2023.05.27 21:44 autotldr Hong Kong's prominent pro-democracy Civic party votes to disband Hong Kong

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 57%. (I'm a bot)
The Civic party, one of Hong Kong's most prominent pro-democracy groups, has voted to disband because of a leadership vacuum, after its members were squeezed out of local councils and charged under Beijing's national security law.
Nicknamed "The barristers' party", it was founded in 2006 by professional elites - mostly from the legal sector - who wanted to promote democratisation and civil society in Hong Kong.
The party was among the last few opposition groups, as political dissent has been outlawed under 2020's national security law, and civil society in Hong Kong has been forced underground or driven into exile.
At its peak of popularity, the Civic party was the second-largest group in the opposition camp - pocketing six seats in Hong Kong's half-elected legislature in 2012.
By the end of 2021, the Civic party lost all five seats in Hong Kong's legislature and more than 30 spots in the democratically elected district councils, as authorities enforced Beijing's "Patriots only" doctrine for public offices.
The former founding member Albert Lai told Agence France-Presse the disbanding of the party "Can be deemed a symbol of the end of Hong Kong's nativistic democracy movement. But the failure does not mean the movement was meaningless."Many people were mobilised and much social capital was amassed during the process, which would be meaningful for the next chapter of Hong Kong.".

2023.05.14 05:08 acadamianut Chapter 41 / XLI - “The Presentation” reading discussion

1) In response to Mercédès’ gratitude to the count for securing Albert’s safety, the count remarks that saving a man, sparing his father from torment, and calming the sensitive nature of a woman are components not of a good deed but of a humane act. Do you think Fernand recognizes the bitter irony of the count’s words? And has the count effectively abandoned his humanity and essentially become a vampire, able to be satisfied only by the destruction of others?
2) The narrator identifies Mercédès—but not Fernand—by name; why the differing treatment?
3) Do you think Mercédès already knows who the count is? And do you think she would give up her life to be reunited with Dantès?
Final sentence of chapter:
“‘Most decidedly,’ said he, ‘men are not equal, and I must beg my father to develop this theorem in the Chamber of Peers.”

2023.05.14 01:50 xctrack459 AP Calculus BC Received Form E

For all of my AP exams, I received Form O (the standard form). But for AP Calculus BC, I received Form E (the experimental form). The exam I felt was more difficult than practice I've done; I ran out of time for multiple choice (I had to just put C for several problems on the no-calculator multiple choice) and I ran out of time to finish FRQ 6 because of some challenging problems.
Despite this, I think I got a 5 putting in what I think I scored on the albert.io and other score calculators. Several of my classmates got different versions of the exam than me (I know this from post-exam discussions I've had with them regarding some FRQs).
Now, with my horrible exam experience, does form E (the experimental form) require fewer points to earn a 5 than form O?

For me, the MCQ had like 10 tricky questions, but I definitely choked the FRQs, so MCQ better carry. Praying for a 5, happy with a 4. What do you guys think will be the cutoff for a 5 this year? I'm questioning the accuracy of the Albert IO score calculators because students from past years say that they know they got a 3 or 4 on Phys 2 based on the score calculator, but they actually got a 5.

2023.05.12 05:13 ind1945 which score calculator is better for ap world?

hi so i just took ap world today and i don't think i did well. that being said the two score calculators i use have drastically different predictions:
albert io says literally 46 mcq 222 saq 5 dbq 4 leq is a 4
while my teacher's calculator for the 2020 mock exam provided by collegeboard says literally change the mcq to 40 and its still a 5
what i find really weird about the albert io calculator is the fact that the score they give you for mcq is lower than the number of questions you get right. so i'd like to know, which scoring system is more accurate?

Adhara Pérez Sánchez, an 11-year-old girl from Mexico City, is set to achieve a remarkable feat by obtaining her Master's degree at a very young age.
Adhara, who has been tested to have a higher IQ than two of the greatest physicists, Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking, scored an impressive 162 on her IQ test.

2023.05.11 00:11 Constant-Relief144 Worried about not getting a 5 in AP CSP and AP Comparative Government

I took 3 APs this year which were AP Calc BC, AP Comparative government and AP CSP. I have no idea what I did in AP Calc, i think like a 3? 4? but definitely not 5. I think I did really well in AP Comp and AP CSP but I am scared that I might not get 5s but instead 4.
I’m a senior and a university asked me to get one singular score of 5 on an ap test this year to accept me and I’m so scared that I’m not going to get it. I think I genuinely did well and all but I’m just soooo scared that I might end up being wrong when scores come out in July. I did the Albert.io score calculator for Comp Gov and with 40/55 in mcqs and 5 points off in the frq I was still firmly in the 5 category but I’m still so scared that I’m not going to get a 5.
For APCSP, I really have no way to know how much I will get in the create task since my teacher didn’t grade it or even look at it. I worked really hard on the app and I studied for the mcq test and I think I did every question in the test correctly except 2 or 3 questions but the Albert.io calculator shows that the curving is really really really harsh so I am just sooooo scared. What do you guys think? Am I doomed?

By higher I mean you will need to get a higher score to get a 5 compared to last year. Last year you needed a 62/108 for a 5 (according to Albert io). I’m p sure I got between a 67-72 on this, and I’m lwk stressing that they’ll increase the curve to be like 70 and I’ll be literally cut off by 3 points.

2023.05.09 22:27 TopGuardDog50 How accurate are online score calculators for AP Exams?

Albert.io, etc. How accurate are they to what the actual cutoffs are? I know they’re based on previous years, so do the cutoffs change for year to year?

2023.05.08 22:54 WhiskeyTigerFoxtrot Returning multiple names for criteria across multiple rows where XLOOKUP and FILTER fail

Hey everyone,
I'm a fairly beginner Excel user working with a mess of data, trying to organize a set that is structured like the example image linked here.
I'm trying to recall all the user names/emails of individuals tied to specific products spread across several product name columns in different orders.
You can see these products were registered to users in different orders, so product A can live in Product 1 for Joe Smith, or Product 2 and Product 3 for Albert Nameson and Jenny Smith respectively.
My goal: create a formula or table that outputs multiple users based on the product name I select.
For example, I want to show all the users with ties to product A, regardless of what order A appears in their row. So if I selected product A as the input, my output would be Joe Smith, Jane Doe, Albert Nameson, Jenny Smith, Tom Wilson, and Henry Kissinger.
Essentially just pivoting onto a product by product basis to list out all the users attached to them across the product columns.
Does that make sense? I feel like this is something extremely simple but can't be satisfied by xlookup or filter. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

2023.05.08 22:02 Guilty-Active3613 How is the AP Computer Science Principle Exam Scored

Just took the APCSP exam and do any of you know how the APCSP exam is graded? My teacher is saying that you need a combined 70 points out of the 100 possible points (Creative Performance Task + Multiple Choice) for a 5, the Princeton Review Textbook says you need a combined 105/150 points for a 5, and some other sources like albert.io say you need 90% total out of both the Creative Performance Task and Multiple Choice for a 5. So do any of you guys know which one is correct if any are correct and what is the correct estimate.

2023.05.08 14:06 Navvye What is the usual cutoff for a 5 in Calc BC

Hello! Would be grateful if anyone could tell me the usual cutoff for a 5 in Calc BC. People say albert.io is not reliable - any help will be appreciated. I just hope the curve isn't too harsh because I messed up the FRQs
