Loud knock sound from under the center console

2023.05.29 17:48 Mr_23VB Loud knock sound from under the center console

Hello everyone! Last night I made a right turn at about 20 mph and as I came out of the turn there was a really loud knock sound that came from under the center console area or where the shifter is…. My passenger said I could have been a plastic piece in the suspension that the dealer forgot to take out and snapped (but idk because of the location of the noise). I am trying to convince myself it was something on the road that my front right tire picked up and shot under the car and landed where the cat converter is and bounced in there. The noise was so loud that I was expecting a check engine light or the transmission to stop working. I drove a little more to see if I could identify a malfunction or anything and the transmission was shifting fine, the clutch was fine, and the engine was accelerating properly. Please tell me I’m overthinking or that you know what might have happened?

2023.05.29 17:18 p3nguinboy Check Engine Light possible because of oil level?

Hi guys, like the title says, is it possible to get a CEL because of low oil levels? I checked the dipstick and it was on the the tip section, so I topped up about half a bottle. Will the CEL go away? I haven't started the car since, will go out in a few minutes and get the oil circulating again. And before you ask for codes, I don't have an OBD2 scanner, I live in Germany so I don't know if I can get them scanned for free. But I do have an appointment at BMW tomorrow to get it scanned.
Thanks for your help in advance!
Car is a 330i touring facelift

Hi everyone First time poster here, I apologize for asking for help while not being part of the community. Driving our company van out to an event and it just died. Won’t turn over but the battery isn’t dead. Seems like fuel isn’t getting to spark but I’m also talking out my A because I don’t know. 1 check engine light is on. Any help is appreciated. We are in Dixon Ca. all shops seem to be closed so we aren’t getting any favors from the holiday.

2023.05.29 17:13 Ayrenn-Arana How’s my cylinder?

How’s my cylinder?
Cliff Notes: I bought a 2012 A4 with 99,000km last October. After putting a few thousand kilometres on the car with no issues, I decided I needed mo powa.
After the installation of a CTS K04, Intake, and high flow cat, everything was running fine for about two weeks (besides a couple ominous misfires). By the third week, a real rough idle started and the dreaded low oil pressure appeared.
Given this car has an oil pressure switch, I’ve been told that the LOP notification can appear much later than ideal. After a shop installed a new oil pump, the pressure issue was fixed. After I go pick up the car, the engine is shaking the Earth, with a surprise appearance of Hide Cylinder 3 after a billion misfires. Eventually EPC appeared, and after a swap around of spark plugs, coils, and injectors, the misfires persisted and have since gotten worse, with a PSI of 30 on cylinder 3, and the others in normal range.
We have stripped down to the cylinders, and we’ve found a likely suspect. Barring your input, I imagine this is explainable by a lack of lubrication and something like bad rings or piston assembly alignment, with the added stress of a few turbo pulls. However, all the cylinders have some light oscillating patterns that are about a cm wide. Neither the oscillating patterns or the up and down scrape are feel-able with a quick fingernail test. Need some advice on how to proceed?
Check Pistons, rods etc, and if they’re fine, is a “dingle berry hone” possible?
Thanks a lot

2023.05.29 17:00 SlowAdventure £6,000 budget for a car. Advice appreciated.

Hi all – I have around this much (6k) budget to replace my old non-compliant ULEZ car for when the expansion happens (I am not eligible for the scrappage scheme).
I have been looking at Kia / Suzuki / Honda (I'm quite into the look of the 2018 Ignis [compact and tallish]); It would be great to have a car with apple carplay (though I imagine, from my research that extras like that might be a bit above my budget)
I'm coming from an old 3 door Ford Focus, which has been pretty good car for general use – so I'm looking for a similar'ish form factor.
I'd be open to a hybrid style engine / LED lights etc, if there's anything within my budget.
I've been on autotrader a fair bit, but I'm having a strong case of choice paralysis at the minute.
I've started with Japanese brands as I hear they are reliable and I mostly like their aesthetic.

Any tips or advice to change my headspace would be very welcome; thanks folks.

2023.05.29 16:53 jordanclock Traction control light coming on when stopping or accelerating from a stop

Hey all you mechanically gifted people!
I have a 2014 Chevy Sonic with about 87k miles. Starting about a week ago, I noticed some subtle changes to how it feels when stopping or accelerating from a stop. First, it feels like idling is a bit rougher. Second, coming to a stop feels slightly jerky. Third, the car seems to start moving faster than it used to when I simply release the brake. These are all small changes, but I'm sure you all know how those kinds of things can stand out when you've had a car for so many years.
A few days ago, though, my check engine light came on. I knew it would be time to take it in at that point but nothing stood out as particularly wrong so I've been driving as necessary still. Since then, I've seen my traction control light come on a few times in rather odd circumstances. Twice it has happened when I was pulling into a parking spot and a few more times it has come on when coming to a stop at a light and then accelerating from a stop. I don't feel any slipping and the roads have been bone dry around here.
I'm not expecting much in the way of answers here because I know descriptions of problems from non-mechanics are notoriously unhelpful. It would just be nice to have an idea or two of what the problem could be while I'm waiting for my appointment.

Critic Reviews

BaziCenter - محمد طالبیان - Persian - 9 / 10
System Shock Remake might not be without flaws, but remaking one of the greatest games ever made after almost 3 decades was never an easy task to start with. Nevertheless, the Remake is solid enough to give the new generation of gamers a taste of one of the pioneers of the video games industry.
WayTooManyGames - Kyle Nicol - 8.5 / 10
For those who are huge fans of the original release, I am sure that this will be highly regarded as a fantastic remake. But this is more than that: for those new to the franchise, this is also a great point to step in at. Nightdive’s System Shock remake is one that will appeal to both audiences. The core gameplay mechanics may not the best or most polished, but it’s the world design, atmosphere and engaging plot that make for an experience that is still very much unique, and well worth the gigantic wait.
Everyeye.it - Riccardo Cantù - Italian - 8 / 10
System Shock's remake is a love letter to the original and its fans, but also an opportunity for new fans to rediscover an authentic video game classic.
PC Gamer - Joshua Wolens - 80 / 100
It might be a little conservative, but this is a smart, faithful remake and easily the de facto way to play System Shock in the modern era.
Screen Rant - Jason Hon - 4 / 5
Nightdive Studios' System Shock remake is the definitive version of the classic 90s PC title whose influence is still felt in today's sci-fi shooters.
Shacknews - TJ Denzer - 8 / 10
Nightdive’s System Shock remake keeps much of its successful elements intact while doing away with a lot of its archaic issues that would drag down a modern game.
VG247 - Siobhán Casey - 4 / 5
Nightdive Studios may have taken seven years, but it's finally managed to do the impossible and thread the unlikely line between reboot and remake.
Worth Playing - Chris "Atom" DeAngelus - 8 / 10
System Shock Remake is a solid remake of an exceptional game. It doesn't quite reach the levels of modernization that you might see from something like Resident Evil 4 Remake, but it does a good job of adapting a classic without losing what made it a classic in the first place. It's a clever and creative game that deserves its place in gaming history, and the remake emphasizes that.
COGconnected - Mark Steighner - 78 / 100
While we wait for a genuine reboot, System Shock is worth playing as a reminder of how important great ideas were, and still are, to the hobby we love.
Spaziogames - Marcello Paolillo - Italian - 7.8 / 10
System Shock Remake is a solid sci-fi first person shooter, although it does not go beyond the boundaries drawn by the first and immortal chapter, released in 1994.
GameGrin - Violet Plata - 7.5 / 10
Unforgiving, with no tutorials, and a true-to-classic experience, System Shock is a retro survival horror title through and through, but you should still consider checking it out, even if you don't care for the original.
Press Start - Brodie Gibbons - 7.5 / 10
After three decades, System Shock still serves up a sci-fi banquet complete with one of the greatest antagonists and features that revolutionised a genre. Classic games are left open to classic stumbling blocks, however, as some of the design shows considerable depreciation.
CGMagazine - Andrew Farrell - 7 / 10
System Shock is an upgraded classic with dated elements that needs quality of life improvements, yet despite everything is still a fun treat for immersive sim fans.
GBAtemp - Prans Dunn - 7 / 10
While I won’t call the System Shock remake an instant classic or on par with other recent remakes such as Resident Evil 4 or Dead Space, it is a decent effort to bring a revered sci-fi title to a new audience.
Metro GameCentral - Steve Boxer - 7 / 10
Not the high-end remake that some fans would have been hoping for but even as a, at times, too faithful remaster this is a fascinating second look at one of gaming's great unsung heroes.
PCGamesN - Dave Irwin - 7 / 10
The System Shock remake is the best way to play the PC classic, making it an enjoyable first-person experience for the modern age. However, it still clings to some somewhat outdated mechanics that will frustrate newcomers.
TheSixthAxis - Steve C - 7 / 10
If you want to explore the history of the horror genre then this is the version to play, but you might want to bookmark a guide to avoid System Shock's most outdated elements.
Atomix - Alexis Patiño - Spanish - 68 / 100
System Shock is the remake fans have been waiting since 2015 and it succeeds in bringing back all that 90s PC gaming experience. Including the outdated feel in an era flooded with greater and more attractive games.
GamesRadar+ - Leon Hurley - 3 / 5
An oddly pitched remake that has its moments but adds very little to the original beyond a visual upgrade
Slant Magazine - Steven Scaife - 3 / 5
However commendable Nightdive’s efforts to preserve the spirit of the original may be, it doesn’t take much frustrated wandering before questioning whether their modernization efforts have gone far enough.
Checkpoint Gaming - Tom Quirk - 5.5 / 10
Nightdive's System Shock remake is a strange game, and whether it will appeal to you may largely depend on your nostalgia for the era of gaming from which it came. This remake still shows its age, despite the considerable and impressive paint job, lighting, and updated controls. If you don't mind the sometimes murderous level of difficulty, tons of backtracking, and minimal handholding, System Shock may be a compelling piece of gaming history that is worth checking out.
WellPlayed - Nathan Hennessy - 5.5 / 10
The atmospheric visual overhaul marks the best part of this exhausting and dated remake, while the villainous AI SHODAN remains a timeless antagonist.
ACG - Jeremy Penter - Buy

Video Review - Quote not available

Polygon - Gita Jackson - Unscored
It’s easy to understand why people played this game and then became obsessed with it, why you can trace some people’s careers through the game.
Rock, Paper, Shotgun - Jeremy Peel - Unscored
While its refusal to let you cheat the exam will prove too punishing for some, the new System Shock is a breathtakingly beautiful and astonishingly faithful remake that proves the enduring power of Looking Glass design.

2023.05.29 16:18 AA56561 [Procurement] Chinese Unmanned Ground Vehicles Fleet

Chinese Unmanned Ground Vehicles Fleet

As the Ukraine Crisis has shown, unmanned vehicles, wherever they are deployed, will play a huge role in the conflicts to come. Due to their unmanned nature, they allow for riskier operations to be undertaken as no human lives are lost, while also giving them much greater endurance than anything that includes a human. Therefore, the People’s Republic of China has decided to double down on the idea of Unmanned Ground Vehicles, working on developing a new fleet of UGVs, which will be introduced into the People’s Liberation Army as soon as they finish their respective development.
With their introduction, the People’s Liberation Army will become the first armed forces in the world to truly mass-introduce several types of unmanned ground vehicles into service, these ranging from “simple” logistics vehicles to high-tech combat vehicles designed to fight the enemy at the front. Due to their new nature, it will take time for all UGVs to be introduced into the PLA, however China expects thousands of these UGVs to be in service with the PLA no later than late 2027. Already, capacities are being increased to allow for the mass-production of these unmanned vehicles the second they are completed, which although risky and costlier than waiting has been seen as the right course of action by the Central Military Commision
All UGVs fielded by the People’s Liberation Army will have the ability to operate completely autonomously, however will also be set up to allow for human input and control. As of now, it is not planned to give full autonomy to these vehicles. Security has been another major concern for the Central Military Commision, with the risk of an enemy hacking these vehicles and disabling them - or worse turning them on the People’s Liberation Army. Therefore, a rigorous security check and system.
The UGVs will utilize a form of AES with 256-bit encryption, a standard recognized by many as nigh-impenetrable, allowing for the establishment of a robust data transmission system between the UGVs and other authorized systems. Furthermore, the UGVs will employ a secure boot process that verifies the integrity of the software and hardware during its startup phase. Should any discrepancies be discovered, the UGV will alert authorized systems and shut down, preventing any adversaries from effectively using any exploit. In order to further secure the UGVs, all software components utilized by the vehicles will be digitally signed using secure code signing certificates, allowing the system to authenticate if the software update or change is actually planned, and not a hacking attempt. Continuous monitoring of critical software components and systems will be installed, and any discrepancies will trigger immediate alerts, and result in the UGV isolating affected systems.
The unmanned ground vehicles will also make use of network segregation, meaning that isolated communication channels will be established within the internal network of the vehicles, preventing unauthorized access to critical systems and limiting the effects of a potential breach. Lastly, the UGVs will undergo regular penetration testing and security audits by a team of specialized hackers and cybersecurity experts. Should any gaps in the UGVs defense be found, or problems encountered, these will be rectified as soon as possible through updates, patches or system hardening measures. These updates themselves will undergo rigorous testing for any potential malware by cybersecurity experts.

Trip Report train 21 Texas Eagle
Here's my report for the southbound Texas Eagle this past Saturday. I boarded in Chicago and disembarked in Alton, IL. First some notes about Chicago Union Station. For all coach passengers Amtrak uses the Great Hall as waiting room space. It's a great space but oddly enough they could use more seating. While entering the great hall there was a sign saying Train 21 Texas Eagle Passengers Check In. I checked in and they gave me a seat check with ALN written on it and told me to get on the train at Door 1. This office closed about 45 minutes before the train departed and I saw many on board without seat checks. They called us all about 20 minutes before departure, lined us all up and marched us down to the track where we boarded. There were signs (Door 1,2,3,4) and attendants at each car door asking us our destinations. Looked to be a five car train, three coaches, diner, and sleeper at the front behind a GE loco. Door 1 was the last car, a nice Superliner coach. All the short haul St. Louis and Illinois passengers were in the last coach. The car was about 75% full. I didn't have a seatmate but many did. I grabbed the last seat on the left side as I wanted to look out the rear window en route. A fateful decision.
Boarding at CUS
We left right on the advertised and headed south. No delays at 21st st. or Brighton Park, thankfully. On time at Joliet with a BNSF stack train racing us the last mile into the station. But as we accelerated past 80mph south of Joliet the wind began to whistle around the rear door. It was annoying. Noise cancelling headphones made it bearable, but it was enough that myself and a few others tried messing with the rear door to stop it. Nothing much worked. As much as I enjoyed looking out the back at 100mph across the Illinois prairie, the whistle made sitting in the last seat less than optimum. While the Amfleet/Horizon/Venture equipped corridor trains can hit 110, Superliners are limited to 100. The ride was nice and smooth though and I got the sense that we could have gone faster if allowed.

We were right on the advertised until Lincoln. We had to wait a few minutes for a northbound UP stack train and were 5 minutes late into Lincoln. We met the northbound River Runner just north of Springfield which made us about 10 minutes late into Springfield. Made up a little time and were 6 minutes late into Alton. The train arrived in St. Louis on time. I snagged a beer and some chips from the dinecafe and service was fine. I do miss the observation/lounge car and hope it eventually returns to the Eagle.
Chicago
21st St.
Looking out the back at Pontiac
Pontiac, IL new depot.
Here's a pro tip for those thinking of using the very nice Alton, IL station. Parking is a pay to park gated lot. The rate is $8/day or $35 for a lost ticket. I was in Chicago for two weeks. My car was just fine and my "lost" ticket meant I only paid the rough equivalent of 4 days. The parking lot also miraculously healed my 22 year old car. I had a check engine light on when I pulled in back on May 15th, and the light was off when I pulled out on Saturday!
All in all a nice trip.

2023.05.29 15:58 Hat-Wearer Mis fire cylinder 1

Any help or thoughts would be great. 2001 TJ Automatic.
Check Engine Light popped up and started flashing while wheeling up a steel incline. Then while driving back home the check engine light would flash like crazy and would loose power on some inclined/hills. It also seemed like the engine would shake or maybe it was just the misfiring.
Went and got it scanned and the code read misfire cylinder 1.
Coil Pack and New Spark Plugs a good place to start?
Thanks!

2023.05.29 15:53 CalicoIda Highschool of the Dead... with guns.

Seeing how I was downvoted in the last post with the characters getting perks, now I will make quotes of the characters getting guns. There are two types of guns that I think would do well, wall guns and box guns. There will be seperate quotes for each weapon or type of weapon depending on the character and we will do this in character order. Depending on the size of the map, the box will move every few guns made when someone gets a teddy bear. Now remember, this is the Jingle to the Mystery Box.
Takashi Komura
"Well an over under Shotgun, don't see if this can be much help?" Purchasing the Olympia
"At least I can try to figure out what to do with this, I think Rei has a better idea than me." Pruchasing the M14
"Something to keep me light on my feet, might be running back and forth to get more ammo for this." Purchasing the MPL or PM63
"Well a Pump action, wait wasn't this supposed to have a scope?" Pruchasing the Stakeout
"Well if my legs want to, I guess I can keep running or ditch one of these." Pruchasing the Mp5k, MP40 or AK74U
"A little boy with his favorite toy!" Purchasing the M16
"Explosive barricades, might come handy in a pinch." Purchasing Claymores
"Restocked and ready for more!" Purchasing grenades
"Wait why is there a knife digging into my inventory space?" Purchasing the Bowie Knife
"Well sensing something happy that this box will give me. I would take my chances." Getting an Assault Rifle or Spectre from the box
"AUG more like AUG-SOME!" Getting the AUG from the box
"Wow this must be heavy, I don't think I want to develop problems from carrying this thing for too long." Getting a light machine gun from the box
"Time to blow some heads off!" Getting a Shotgun from the box
"Fighting me up close isn't fair, and now I get a SNIPER RIFLE?!?" Getting a Sniper from the box
"Now the entire crowd will have to see what someone like me has in store!" Getting an explosive weapon from the box
"Don't know if this would be much use?" Getting the Ballistic Knife from the box
"God why are you so cruel some times?!" Getting a Pistol from the box
"Don't know if its one or two?" Getting dual wield pistols from the box
"Wait what is this supposed to do again?" Getting a Ray Gun from the box
"Wow this should be interesting." Getting the wonder weapon of the map
"Just you and me my fuzzy pal, now lets go kill some zombies." Getting monkey bombs from the box

R1250 RS Check engine light after sitting for 6 weeks
I charged the battery to 100% yesterday, washed it just now then started it and it fired up instantly then threw this on the screen. I can’t say it sounds any different from normal and has warmed up just fine.
I appreciate it’s too vague to seek advice on, but can I ride like this to my dealer?

2023.05.29 15:10 scootrsmb Cylinder 3 misfire on newly purchased used F150.

I bought a truck a little over a month ago. 2017 Ford F150 5.0 V8 with 107k miles. Shortly after I bought it the check engine light came on for a cylinder 3 misfire. They changed the plugs and coils and it seemed to run better overall but I felt like I could still feel some sputtering and vibration from the front end. The truck went back for a different reason and I mentioned that I thought I could still feel the misfire. They fixed the other issue that it was really in for and said that truck wasn't misfiring and I was good to go. A couple days later the check engine light came back on for Cylinder 3 misfire again and I brought it back to the dealership. He called me and said one of the plugs they installed cracked, possibly when they were installing it.
At this point I feel like I'm being fed bullshit from the dealer to get me out of the door. I am not under warrantee anymore but they are fixing this because it started when it was under warrantee. My question for everyone here is how likely is it that the same cylinder is the one with the cracked spark plug, and should I be asking for them to check anything else? Should I be having a garage investigate anything to make sure that its just a spark plug issue and not mechanical? Is there anything I should be doing/asking in a situation like this to potentially avoid a more costly mechanical issue in the future?

2023.05.29 15:02 BenShutterbug My in-depth review of the Mazda CX-60 after 7000km and 5 months - Design, Performance, Range and Value for Money

Hello everyone,
Last January, I purchased a CX-60. As it is still difficult to find user reviews of this model, I took the time to write this review in the hope that it can be helpful to you if you are considering buying this car. I hope that my experience can answer some of your questions and assist you in your decision-making process.
Exterior Design (4/5)
The design is particularly successful. The car has a sleek look and gives the impression of being in motion even when stationary, just as the designers promised during the design phase. It has nothing to envy compared to its competitors, such as the Audi Q5. Although I'm not a big fan of black rims, I must admit that they blend harmoniously with the Takumi package on this model. The black accents on the rims, tinted windows, and mirrors create a visual signature that doesn't go unnoticed. Unlike most models, it stands out more in person than in photos, especially in terms of size. It is truly massive. For comparison, it is longer and taller than an Audi Q5. When you see it for the first time, the "wow" effect is guaranteed. However, the rear of the vehicle is less expressive and does not do justice to the front and side views. Fortunately, the quad exhaust at the back helps maintain the sporty character of the model.
Interior Design (5/5)
The interior layout is clean, simple, and modern. It features a large central screen, a minimally customizable driver display, and a head-up display integrated directly on the windshield. This efficiency will surely appeal to those who struggle with screens everywhere displaying unnecessary information. Similarly, you cannot customize the ambient lighting in the evening. The lights are fixed, in a neutral color, and the adjustment only offers 3 intensities. It may not be to everyone's liking, but personally, I find it liberating to be free from countless customization possibilities that always leave a sense of dissatisfaction. As for the materials, they come in understated colors and durable textures, both in terms of aesthetics and longevity (at least for now, time will tell). The center console is impressively wide and gives a sense of space rarely felt in vehicles of similar size. When driving this car, you feel like you're aboard a large American SUV like the Suburban or Ford Explorer. Unfortunately, there are not many storage compartments. The huge center console only offers a tiny compartment that can hold a few small items and keys at most. The door pockets are also very low and not very practical.
Ergonomics (4/5)
The cabin offers generous space for all occupants, including the rear seats where even adults over 1.80m tall have ample legroom. The seats, which are rather firm and have limited adjustments, can be surprising at first, especially if you're coming from a vehicle with a multitude of settings. In the first few days, I experienced sharp back pain, especially since the car lacks flexibility as I'll mention later. After three weeks of adjustment, the pain disappeared, and I even noticed an improvement in my posture. In my previous vehicle, my seat was so comfortable, like a sofa, but now I realize it was bad for my back. Inside this car, with its comfort inspired by Japanese tatami mats, I ultimately feel better, less slouched, and more alert. The trunk offers significant capacity, especially compared to similar models. However, it doesn't have a dual compartment or a sub-trunk to store charging cables. The tailgate rises very high, over 3 meters. It struggles to lock in place when encountering resistance, which can damage it from the first uses. I recommend adjusting it by pressing the closing button while it's opening, to lock it at the desired height, and holding down that button for 5 seconds (until you hear a series of beeps) to limit the opening range.
Technologies and Equipment (3/5)
The connectivity is quite comprehensive, although Apple CarPlay suffers from some instability and unexplained bugs (random disconnections, unexpected cuts, slowdowns, random automatic connection). Wireless charging also sometimes poses a problem. It works randomly and seems to generate a lot of heat on the phone. When not in use, an error message keeps flashing, indicating that no phone is being charged.
As for driving aids, the lane-keeping system works very well, although it is not autonomous. If you don't have your hands on the wheel, the car behaves like a billiard ball, bouncing from one lane to another. However, if it deviates from its trajectory because you're not attentive enough, it will alert you and secure the car by making a steering correction. It's very reassuring and always activated at the right time. Moreover, it's even a valuable aid on high-speed winding turns, on certain departmental roads. Other vehicles end up cutting through the turns or having to slow down excessively, while you effortlessly stay precisely in your lane.
I was very disappointed with the cruise control, which is not adaptive. Later, I discovered that it is an option that is disabled in the software since all the necessary sensors are already present. You can confirm this through ActiveSense, which provides a complete view of surrounding vehicles. So, I wanted to add this option later, willing to bear the cost, but Mazda doesn't allow it. This strategy, or lack of a sales strategy, is surprising.
The temperature management inside the car is surprising. Without changing the temperature settings in automatic mode, during a long drive, there is a yo-yo effect that is difficult to explain. One moment, it feels quite cool, and a few minutes later, it becomes too hot. I wonder if it's related to the external brightness because on a hot spring day, the air conditioning temperature suddenly rose when the sky suddenly became overcast. However, it was still hot outside. I think there's an overly reactive adaptive mode at play.
The remote car management is quite good. It's possible to activate the heating or air conditioning, which will run for a maximum of 30 minutes before shutting off and sending a notification to your phone. You can extend it if you have a good signal. The car surprisingly receives a signal in unexpected places, even in underground parking lots where my phone has no network. This remote temperature mode is ideal for defrosting the car or leaving a dog inside during cold weather or in the summer when the temperature rises quickly in a closed and parked car. I've tested it in extreme cold and hot seasonal temperatures, and it works very well so far. Of course, it consumes a lot of energy, but you can't have everything without a trade-off. It's suitable for occasional use. The rest of the remote features include locking the car, checking tire pressure, consulting the range, and receiving alerts if the alarm is triggered, which is very reassuring. It's also possible to locate the car precisely. It's a shame that we can't access the cameras, as in other fully electric models.
It's not clear in the vehicle manual, but to deactivate the alarm, you need to press the alarm button on the remote right after locking the car. The indicator will blink 4 times, and then it will be turned off. It's better to do it before leaving your dog alone, or else the alarm will be triggered if the dog moves inside the vehicle.
Performance and Driving Dynamics (4/5)
I own the 327-horsepower PHEV model: 200 horsepower from the atmospheric gasoline engine and 127 horsepower from the electric motor. Although the low-end power is reduced with an atmospheric engine, the electric motor more than makes up for it with its responsiveness and instant torque. Despite its weight, the car is very agile. It even outperforms some more powerful or lighter petrol-powered cars in terms of acceleration. Of course, such models regain the advantage in corners, but not in straight lines. The acceleration is impressive, although the road noise insulation somewhat dampens the sensation. Other vehicles seem almost stationary when you step on the accelerator.
I was initially disappointed with the braking performance, which was less impressive than in my previous vehicle. However, by pressing the pedal harder and adjusting the regenerative braking to the maximum, I managed to get used to it.
The handling is remarkable. Although it's not a sports car capable of maintaining very high speeds in corners, it still surpasses similar-sized competing models. Thanks to the four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering, the turning angle and trajectory in corners are impressive for a car of this size. One of the drawbacks of the vehicle lies in the stiffness of the suspension. Despite the excellent noise isolation, you feel the road imperfections more than you would expect when driving an SUV. Even at low speeds, speed bumps are very uncomfortable and cause items in the trunk to bounce around. Mazda seems to have made this choice to prevent the relatively high car from swaying in corners and reduce the risk of rollovers at high speeds. Adaptive suspension could have solved this problem. However, considering the pricing position against the competition, I understand why the brand overlooked this aspect. Moreover, after 3000 km, I noticed that the suspension has become slightly softer, improving comfort to some extent.
Energy Efficiency and Range (2/5)
The consumption and hybridization aspects encompass the majority of the vehicle's drawbacks. The car discharges quickly, and the actual range is much lower than what the manufacturer claims. Like many owners, I also face a discharge issue when the car is parked. It loses about 30% of charge in 24 hours (and even drains the 12-volt starter battery - as if the headlights were left on). This problem is due to software that prevents the car from entering sleep mode. I have already taken my vehicle to Mazda for reprogramming, and I will have to do it again soon because the issue is still unresolved (now I lose 15% in 24 hours). This problem is not part of the manufacturer's recalls, but many owners are affected. Dealing with a less established manufacturer, this can quickly become a headache. I had to go through many steps and cancel orders for other CX-60s for my company before being taken into consideration by the after-sales service. During my third call, Mazda France assistance even replied to me that they are not Audi. The message is quite clear.
Beyond this specific issue, the management of hybridization lacks customization and seems suitable for a specific use case only. If you live in a house, always have the car plugged in, and regularly make short trips, this plug-in hybrid is suitable. However, if you cannot plug it in daily or if you regularly drive more than 50 km round trip, you might be disappointed. Especially considering the consumption of this car in electric mode, it is often more expensive to charge it than to refuel with gasoline. The cost per 100 km is 2 to 4 times higher at current energy prices. Personally, I opted for the hybrid due to the tax incentives and benefits, but I also wanted to take advantage of remote heating and air conditioning options, especially when I have to leave my dog in the car for a few minutes. Since I cannot recharge it daily in the parking lot of my building, it would be desirable to be able to keep a charged battery and drive in combustion engine mode, but no mode truly allows that. It is possible to choose to recharge the car while driving, consuming approximately 13 liters per 100 km, but you cannot choose to drive solely on the combustion engine without using the high-capacity battery. The sport mode comes close, but the gears are shifted at high RPM, making the driving experience jerky and particularly noisy, and the battery is used as soon as you accelerate a bit (to activate the 137-horsepower motor). An exclusively combustion engine mode would have been relevant, similar to the exclusively electric mode. Furthermore, recharging the battery while driving doesn't work correctly. The recharge is very fast, much faster than when it's connected to 7 kW chargers. However, the displayed percentage does not correspond to the actual charge, which explains why it continues to recharge beyond the set percentage. For example, if you're at 30% and ask the car to recharge up to 50% while driving, it will work at a high rate until it reaches 50%. In normal mode, it will stop recharging the battery, but will continue operating at a high rate to not drop below 50%. So, you end up consuming more without reason, with the engine noise constantly high, which is quite unpleasant. In sport mode, it will continue recharging the battery above 50% without any limit. However, once the car is stopped and restarted, you'll notice that you weren't at 50%, but rather at 35%. The fast recharge was, therefore, fictitious. The problem is that this is a first for Mazda in terms of technology, and no one there is able to provide answers on this matter. The garage I visit explains that Mazda is highly centralized and communicates very little in terms of engineering with the garages. It is, therefore, common for a problem to persist for several months (or more) before being addressed at the technical management level in Japan and then transmitted to local dealerships. However, when deciding to market a technologically immature car, it would be wise to establish a continuous improvement process based on user feedback. In fact, on forums, we can see that Japanese users receive preferential treatment compared to the rest of the world. In conclusion, the battery of this car, which needs to be recharged at a high cost, is only useful for the first 40 kilometers. So, you spend over 3 hours recharging a battery at an exorbitant rate for only 25 or 30 minutes of driving without using gasoline. One might wonder if it's simply a trick to equip professionals, allowing them to benefit from incentives and reduced tax on company vehicles (the primary reason for my purchase). I think many people will never plug it in.
Cost and Value for Money (4/5)
The value for money of this model is indeed very interesting when compared to vehicles of the same standing from other brands, such as Audi. For example, an Audi Q5 offers a similar level but with an additional cost of €25,000. For the same price as a Mazda CX-60, you would only get a Q3 from Audi, which is clearly not comparable. However, it is important to note that the depreciation of this vehicle could be significant, and it might even become difficult to resell it in a few years. This is also true for all plug-in hybrid models. Therefore, I would recommend this model, provided that you negotiate the price well or opt for a lease (the offers are very attractive, and personally, I chose this payment method). The PHEV configuration of the vehicle is suitable for individuals who have daily access to a charging point and have diverse travel needs, ranging from short to long trips. Before the increase in electricity prices, the cost per 100 km was slightly more advantageous compared to gasoline, but today it is the opposite (except when charging from a domestic socket).
Conclusion
I am delighted with this car considering the price at which I acquired it. The positioning is unbeatable, and there are good deals to be made to drive this luxury sports SUV at the price of a "regular" SUV. With a domestic electric socket, choosing the plug-in hybrid is a good middle ground. It's just a shame that the hybrid management is not more refined. Perhaps future updates will address these teething problems.

Optimizing Your Revenue Cycle: Strategies For Proactive Medical Billing
https://preview.redd.it/vk8knx9t0t2b1.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4ce45378d17c6ccd052681231f1f1a8e8b454ed2
Several elements of healthcare reform have evolved over time, including value-based compensation models, recurring changes to the rule engine for medical billing services, and other federal laws. In light of these continual changes, physicians must stay up to date on the latest developments. As a result, they must receive ongoing training in medical billing and coding rules. Staying outdated is a problem for medical practitioners because they cannot compromise the quality of their professional services due to income loss. To minimize this trouble, medical practitioners should implement the proper tactics to stay in compliance with medical billing trends while also improving the quality of care services. This blog will provide you with tried-and-true strategies for optimizing proactive medical billing services in order to maximize revenue.

Claim Management Process

According to a recent survey, about 80% of all medical bills involve errors. Because of strict insurers policies, these inaccurate medical claims are denied and rejected. Although medical billers can reapply these claims in order to challenge an unpaid bill. The cycle of claim submission, rejection, and resubmission, on the other hand, takes a long period.
Medical billers should build a proper claim management process in order to save providers valuable time. They should deploy competent personnel and equipment to monitor all paid and unpaid claims. To file accurate claims on the first try, use smart medical billing software solutions. They should also make certain that accurate information flows throughout the claim submission procedure.
Before filing claims, they should double-check the claims to identify any potential information errors. This will ensure that payers and patients obtain clean claims that can later be successfully reimbursed.
Minimize Medical Coding Errors
Medical codes serve as the foundation for medical billing services. A medical bill’s objective is to standardize medical care and diagnostic procedures into standard medical coding protocols. For various medical operations, these medical codes are categorized as CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II categorization systems.
Although it is a common way of describing medical operations, errors can also arise in this aspect. It contains the most common errors, such as erroneous, mismatched, or missing codes, among others. These inaccuracies are easily detected by clearinghouses and payers. However, some medical coding errors are highly intricate and result in unfavorable outcomes.
For example, if medical coders utilize less detailed ICD-9 codes rather than extremely specific ICD-10 codes, the claim will be denied or rejected. If medical coders employed inappropriate modifiers, upcoding or undercoding, such errors can cause your claims to be rejected or denied further down the road.
Payer Contract Enforcement
Payer underpayment is another major issue for any practice attempting to optimize collections. According to MGMA industry estimates, payers generally underpay medical practices by 7-11%. Then there’s the issue of various payers paying varying amounts for the same quality of service. Clearly, if payer contracts are not monitored and enforced successfully, the practice will suffer a significant income loss. However, tracing each underpayment down is a significant challenge, and here is where robust technology comes in handy. You can also opt for the following approach to avoid these issues:

  • Each of these contracts must be correctly interpreted and configured in the practice management software.
  • Define clearly if you have any thresholds for under or overpayments.
  • While posting paper EOBs, the software should provide you with the right permitted for each CPT on the claim: any claim with an exception outside of the threshold should be marked with a specific claim adjustment reason code (CARC) and forwarded to the dispute queue/ bucket.
  • Apply no threshold to a significant payer trend: $2 per claim for 500 claims in three months is a lot of money. It is totally worth it to pick up the phone and call a provider representative to get this resolved.
Outsourcing – The Optimal Strategy!
Due to the ever-changing healthcare industry, coders and billers must constantly upgrade their skills and concepts to keep on top of the changes and avoid losing money. With the advent of EMR and advanced practice management software, the prevalent idea is that billing and collection standards will be higher than ever before, with every claim being paid out precisely and collected on time.
According to industry sources, independent medical practices are still losing up to 30% of potential revenue due to inefficiencies in the billing and collection process.
This occurs because the rejection and denial rate remains excessively high, with nearly half of denials never being handled, resulting in a 5-7% loss of potential revenue. When you have a high number of denials, your revenue can quickly become stuck in Accounts Receivable, causing a significant impact on your cash flow. As a result, you can follow these proactive strategies to make these simple modifications to your current medical billing process and increase your revenue by 25-30%.
Else you can also outsource your medical billing services to the professionals who are experts in following these proactive strategies. 24/7 Medical Billing Services is a major medical billing service provider that has optimized the billing and collection procedures for several practice’s, allowing them to maximize revenue and eliminate cash flow problems.
