2023.05.29 03:05 Gniv1031 Help needed - potential leak

Hi all - I need some help (and determine whether I need professional help).
Here’s the facts:
Screened in pool around 12k gallons. Have solar and cartridge filter and salt system. I have a zodiac z3 vacuum hooked up. All was working fine before hand with a small air leak where I could see bubbles in the pump basket.
My pool pump needed to be replaced because it cracked and started leaking. I hired someone off of thumbtack to add a variable speed pool pump. The previous pump was 2HP and the installer said that was too much for my current pool. He installed a Jandy 1.65HP pool pump. Now the pump basket isn’t filling all the way. I called him back to check on it and he said I have an air leak somewhere but not to be concerned. I told him it wasn’t doing this before but he just gave some lame excuse. Also when my solar heater is on the vacuum doesn’t work anymore. Vacuum works fine when heater is off. PSI is in a normal range of 20-30. Lastly, my salt system I can see bubbles in the window on the salt cell which I didn’t see before.
I have a home warranty since I just moved in and has someone come out to look and he said he couldn’t find any air leaks above ground and that the pressure in the system was fine even though the basket wasn’t filling.
I have 2 check valves on the “non suction” side of my system and I don’t see any bubbles it’s completely clear. But when the water hits the salt cell window I see a ton of bubbles.
Dows anyone have any advice? I’m at a loss here and feel like I got screwed somewhere.
Thank you!

Mold appears as unsightly dark black spots on windows and window frames. Mold grows and propagates in hot and humid places. Unfortunately, condensation on windows makes it an ideal place for mold to grow. Shapes can also form between the glass and the window frame, making them difficult to notice. Professional window cleaners in Anaheim Hills, CA., are accustomed to handling mold and can use chemicals and proper cleaning to remove harmful mold from windows and homes.
  1. Extend Your Windows’ Life
Over time, windows can be damaged by hard water, dirt, and debris. Dust and dirt that collects on windows can corrode and damage the glass. Unwanted deposits on glass, like stubborn scale deposits clinging to the shower, can accumulate in the aluminum dividers. Etched glass also looks bad and can be prone to cracking and tearing. Regular cleaning removes this contamination and prolongs the life of the window.
  1. Decrease Allergens in Your Home
Dandelions, pollen, dust and other allergens can build up on the windowsill and affect the health of you and your family. Symptoms such as headache, malaise, runny nose, cough, sneezing, and itchy eyes may occur. Professional window cleaning in Anaheim Hills, CA., can help reduce allergens in your home by cleaning the windows thoroughly.
  1. High-Quality Products
Using the right window cleaning products and the best tools can make a big difference. Your windows will be fresh and clean with no streaks.
  1. Prevent Insects and Pests from Making your Home their Home
Keep bees, ladybugs and spiders away from home. Spiders often consider windows a safe place to nest, but it can be uncomfortable for homeowners and their guests. They can weave spider webs and trap insect food in the corners of windows and under window frames. When flies and insects appear on the window screen, they are more likely to be prey to spiders. If you are cleaning your windows, this is an ideal opportunity to find and eliminate insect nests.
  1. Protect Indoor Air Quality
Of course, the perpetrators of window cleaning include fingerprints and water stains. But did you know that accumulating inside windows can be harmful to your health? Part of the accumulation is from smoking by burning candles, cooking, smoking at home, and even from the fireplace. All smoke film buildup accumulates in the windows and remains until cleaned, allowing the remaining smoke to be inhaled. Cleaning the windows will improve the air quality of your home in Anaheim Hills, CA., and allow you to breathe more comfortably than ever before.
  1. Discover Window Problems Early
Professional Window Cleaning in Anaheim Hills, CA., offers more than just window cleaning. They also carefully observe the integrity of your windows and point out the importance of quickly repairing loose or broken window frames, loose or cracked windows, and wood decay in window frames. If the frame is painted to close, or if the window screen does not fit properly, you need to deal with this.
Homeowners can save money in the long run if the problem is resolved early. Too many people are aware of the erosion of parts of their homes, which can be expensive to repair and require time-consuming remodeling solutions.
  1. Window Aesthetics
The appearance inside and outside the house is greatly influenced by the cleanliness of the windows. Having clean windows enhances the unique design of your home and makes a bigger impression on your guests. Natural light coming in through a clean reflective surface can also affect your mood and productivity during the day. The bright and open space makes the room more cozy and spacious. And if you're selling your home in Anaheim Hills, CA., clean windows are a big attraction to potential buyers.
  1. Safety
Cleaning the windows yourself is dangerous, especially if your house has multiple floors. It can fall by climbing the stairs to reach the high windows. Hiring a professional window cleaner in Anaheim Hills, CA., means you don't have to climb stairs or work with harsh cleaners. Professional cleaners can also detect problems that can occur with windows, such as broken glass, rotting wood, and defective custom screens. If the window sill is painted too close, or if it is difficult to open the window, you need to know and deal with it as soon as possible for the safety of you and your family. Addressing these issues early can save you time and money later.
  1. Save Time
We know that you are busy and washing windows is often a time consuming project. By hiring a professional window cleaning in Anaheim Hills, CA., you can devote your time to what is important to you.
By keeping the sliding function of the window rails free of debris and the hinges free of dirt, the windows ensure that the windows function properly. Over time, this also helps prevent future damage and protects the window as long as it can be used. It is less likely that a fully functional window system will fail. Removing corrosive contaminants from your windows will extend your life and save you money. We understand how important it is to keep your home clean and hygienic. That's why we listed some of the benefits of professional window cleaning as your guide.

2023.05.27 22:48 aguyonahill Plumbing remolding code questions.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated, I asked the local permitting department and they sent me to the code books where I could not find the answers to these questions.
Durham NC, remodeling a small accessory dwelling unit (~600 sq ft.), tearing down to the studs in many areas.
Outdoor tankless water heater a bad idea?
Indoor Electric tankless water heater (~9gpm), how much space does it require around it? Is a simple service door into a tiny space with a few inches around it all that's needed? Does it need to be enclosed at all or can it be in a closet where clothes are stored? What about a bathroom?
What is the minimum bathroom doorway width; does it matter if it's coming from common rooms or bedrooms?
I understand it's bad to have a bathroom door open into the hallway/bedroom, but is it against code?
I know some of these are stupid ideas, and thank you in advance. I plan on hiring a professional plumber but need these answers to know the layouts and what can fit in the location.

2023.05.27 21:26 TripleVital I honestly dont care about an update

- big complaint thread. (Alot of these are mainly for pvp)
- Just fix and balance the fucking game
1.) old data loading being absolutley moronic, causing you to lose ranks for no reason
2.) add skill based matcmaking in ranked, (obviously not if there's only 2 people in the queue) tired of me (Kinoto, rank 60) being put up against rank 500's
3.) make the hotels/inn's a safe zone so you dont lose a fuck ton of yen from kai spawn camping when you join (obviously make it so you cant enter if you're in combat so people dont just run in)
4.) hantengu + temari infinite stun combo
5.) poison 2 tick per second + dosent go away sometimes, even when it does its longer than burn (make it 1 tick or something and make it last as long as fire effect)
6.) sun 1 shot combo using only 3 forms :/ (lunge, 4x m1, fire dance, burning bones, lunge, 4x m1, dragon sun halo dance)
7.) slayer mark revive (ik alot of people like this, but in pvp its just dumb)
8.) shoulder bash being utterly useless, they can continue to m1 after u use it because the animation is so fucking long
9.) This is petty, and more of a personal thing, as i've not heard anyone complain about it. but make the block not fatigue you when you let go, bcs you move slow for like 0.5 seconds after you unblock, making it a free combo for the enemy.
10.) ice clones not dying sometimes (idk if this is intentional)
11.) the only update related thing i want here is a way to go back to human from hybrid/demon. idc how difficult it is, just dont make us have to reset our clan or pay to revert to human.
12.) hantengu counter being able to be used while being m1'd? no other counter does this, why should this one. it is not an iframes, and even if it was/is it shouldnt damage you, stun you, or fling you. And reduce the stun fatigue of it, if you were to use a move through the tornado attack (e.e benificent radiance) you would still get the fatigue stun for about 3 seconds. way too op.
13.) getting burned by breathings that dont inflict burn. e.e yestreday i fought a water breather while using sun, he inflicted burn on me? Idk if this came from him blocking, parrying, shoulder bashing or something, but why can he do this?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things people complain about that i think should stay
1.) ice taking too much stam - i think it takes enough stam, dmg and stun is great. maybe just a bit less though, like 15%, maybe 20
2.) nezuko art pvp being 0 skill - its very skill reliant imo, the knockback into range attack combos are hard to land. I was also someone who wanted this to get nerfed, but when i tried it i saw just how wrong i was.
3.) jumping taking stamina while in combat - i dont mind it, you just have to be careful about how much you jump. makes the game more skill based. i say keep it, not alterations or reductions in the stam use at all.
4.) game being to grindy - yen is easy to come by, ik alot of people complain about how time consuming the 20k breaths and 10k swords are, but i think its fine. exp isnt too hard either, just time consuming to get to max lvl on each prestige
5.) cooldowns - there are alot of cooldowns people complain about, i cant recall any in particular. But i think most, if not all of them are fine. I dont have any coodlowns that come to mind that are absurdly long/short.
6.) no perks for rankings - this is a dumb one, luckily i dont see many people complain about this one. But i think having no perks for ranks are fine, its a title. it should stay a title.
7.) not being able to cancel/ move in limitless regen - if you could do either of these it would be utterly stupid. this skill is not meant to be used in pvp, if you could do either of these any combo or any attack anyone did on you would be pretty much worthless if this happened.
8.) 9th Form rengoku ragdoll- I think the ragdoll is annoying and is a free combo to the other player, but if they make the move easier to avoid I think this would be fine.

It'd be a god send if any 1 of these got fixed, dosen't even have to be 1 of these, if anything gets fixed at all it'd be a miracle and i'd be absolutley flabbergasted

2023.05.27 14:38 DebbieFrances (Los Angeles CA-US) Water heater problems — again. Need expert opinion.

updated to add that water here is “hard”
Our Rheem water heater is making popping sounds. It’s a 40-gallon tank and was purchased from & installed by a large plumbing company (Fords Plumbing & Heating) only 18 months ago. Almost embarrassed to admit how much they charged me for it, and now I’m disappointed to be having problems so soon. Fords has offered to send a guy out to diagnose, for $200. (Ugh!) The previous tank (also a Rheem, but purchased at Home Depot and installed by a workman) died after only 6-7 years. Is there an underlying reason for the ongoing problems with water heaters? (Per google, the water in Los Angeles is “hard to very hard.”) Is it normal to be charged a diagnosis fee? Should I go straight to Rheem instead? Any advice is welcome. Thank you.

Baymax is a healthcare robot created by Tadashi Hamada, a student at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. After Tadashi’s death, Baymax took Hiro, Tadashi’s younger brother, as his primary patient. When Hiro decided to build gear to become a superhero and bring the man who caused Tadashi’s death to justice, Baymax joined him, along with Tadashi’s former classmates, to become Big Hero 6, San Fransokyo’s premier superhero team.
According to side material, Baymax is 6’ 2" normally and 6’ 5" in the armor, though he sometimes seems to be larger than that.

2023.05.27 05:11 Firm-Editor-1706 Is an “active” breed right for me?

Introduction
1) Will this be your first dog? If not, what experience do you have owning/training dogs?
Yes. I long term dog-sat for a lot of my friends at my old job. Experience is with Belgian malinois, German shepherds (4 months old, 2 years old ), Huskies/Malamutes (2 years, 4 years, 10 weeks old). Longest time spent was 5 months with the malinois so I went through house training, potty training, and crate training.
2) Do you have a preference for rescuing a dog vs. going through a [reputable breeder]
No preference
3) Describe your ideal dog.
I want a running partner, hiking partner, and someone I can grab the leash and just go play out in the grass with. I go running Atleast 5 days a week. And I hike/sight see on the weekends
At the same time a pup that knows when to chill and wants his/her own alone time. I’m a full time student so sometimes I need to get work done/go to class but when I’ve had it with school I want to be able to grab the leash and go.
A dog that doesn’t have strong protective instincts. Not a lot of noise because I’m in an apartment. Although the Malinois I had in here had barking problems and we worked through it after a lot of time and toys.
4) What breeds or types of dogs are you interested in and why?
I’ve only looked up breeds that I was familiar with so Sheppards (German/Belgian), huskies and malamutes. Maybe even a cliche golden retriever.
I’m gonna be honest while the malinois I had here was a sweet heart, I’ve seen YouTube videos of what she’s going to grow up to be like and I don’t have an interest in such an “intense” dog.
In short. I don’t know that’s why I’m here!
5) What sorts of things would you like to train your dog to do?
Leash training is essential so I can go run with the puppy, but idc about off leash. It seems irresponsible and I would never because I live in an urban environment.
6) Do you want to compete with your dog in a sport (e.g. agility, obedience, rally) or use your dog for a form of work (e.g. hunting, herding, livestock guarding)? If so, how much experience do you have with this work/sport?
No.
Care Commitments
7) How long do you want to devote to training, playing with, or otherwise interacting with your dog each day?
Based on my schedule from taking care of the puppy.
7 AM Morning bathroom trip
7:15 AN Feeding
30-45 minute walk
8:15 AM Leave for class, leave her water and free roam around the apartment.
11-12:00 Bathroom trip and walk
1:00 PM School work
2:30 PM Run (without the puppy because she was too young)
3:30 PM Long walk for puppy
4:30-5:00 PM Dinner for myself and puppy
Rest of the time was devoted to her.
8) How long can you exercise your dog each day, on average? What sorts of exercise are you planning to give your dog regularly and does that include using a dog park?
No dog park. I’ll go for socialization but I don’t think I’ll ever turn them lose. Too many fights and accidents in my area.
5x a week 30-45 minute runs.
2-4x daily long walks/playtime/simple training 30-45 minutes.
2-3x a week long hikes up hill. 1-2 hour long hiking trips.
9) How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly?
Makes no difference to me.
Personal Preferences
10) What size dog are you looking for?
Medium and up. Only because I imagine small dogs would be difficult to run with…..
11) How much shedding, barking, and slobber can you handle?
(Excessive) Barking is an issue in an apartment complex. Little to no slobber. Shedding doesn’t matter to me.
12) How important is being able to let your dog off-leash in an unfenced area?
I would like to, but I personally think it’s irresponsible and I wouldn’t do it. My friends husky recently died from a snake bite because he was off leash hiking.
Dog Personality and Behavior
13) Do you want a snuggly dog or one that prefers some personal space?
30/70 (snuggly and wants their own space)
14) Would you prefer a dog that wants to do its own thing or one that’s more eager-to-please?
Do their own thing.
15) How would you prefer your dog to respond to someone knocking on the door or entering your yard? How would you prefer your dog to greet strangers or visitors?
Neutral to doors . Friendly to strangers.
16) Are you willing to manage a dog that is aggressive to other dogs?
No.
17) Are there any other behaviors you can’t deal with or want to avoid?
Not really.
Lifestyle
18) How often and how long will the dog be left alone?
3-4 times a week 3 hours a day.
19) What are the dog-related preferences of other people in the house and what will be their involvement in caring for the dog?
I live alone
20) Do you have other pets or are you planning on having other pets? What breed or type of animal are they?
No
21) Will the dog be interacting with children regularly?
No
22) Do you rent or plan to rent in the future? If applicable, what breed or weight restrictions are on your current lease?
Rent, pit bull/Rottweiler restriction
23) What city or country do you live in and are you aware of any laws banning certain breeds?
Remain anonymous, but only wolf hybrid and exotic animal ban
24) What is the average temperature of a typical summer and winter day where you live?
Summer (mid 70s Fahrenheit)
Winter (47-52)
Additional Information and Questions
25) Please provide any additional information you feel may be relevant.
26) Feel free to ask any questions below.

2023.05.27 04:28 FIorida_Mann Utility company screwup

Utility company screwup
Is it normal that utility company would run these water lines through the laundry room wall instead of directly into the crawlspace where they would end up anyways? I had plans to turn this room into a walk-in pantry and now there is this complete eyesore getting in the way of shelves/tile wall I was going to install. Utility company says they won't fix it because there isn't enough space to enter the crawlspace. The opening (not pictured) is 24x19. I am 5'11" 200lb and have gone under there numerous times without issues They also completely failed to address the damage to the brand new baseboards i put in a month ago...

2023.05.26 03:24 Syrhen Needing some advice!

Hello everyone! We're in need of some help. We're in a rather unfortunate situation and a bit of drama.
Recently moved to southern Maine and bought a log cabin (kit home, not too rural). It's about 1600 finished sqft, two story with an open second level and catwalk to two upstairs bedrooms.
The main area is essentially all one space. It has an unfinished basement that we are currently refinishing. So, here's the story. It used to have forced hot water baseboard heat powered by an oil furnace when we moved in.
We got heat pumps spec'd for the whole house, including the basement that was to be finished. We ultimately made the choice after doing some research to pull out the furnace and baseboard heaters.
They were ugly, loud, and filled with old mice poop where they had been nesting. We also had the water heater replaced with a heat pump hybrid electric water heater by the same company that spec'd the heat pumps for the house.
Problem is, the water heater was installed incorrectly (swapped the hot and cold and used inferior components, likely to cut costs or maybe just gross negligence) by the HVAC company.
Our contractor for the basement remodel (whom was hired separately) convinced us to fire our HVAC company and use his. We did this worrying about the quality of the work that would be fine knowing how the water heater install went.
He just informed me today that his HVAC company is recommending we pursue litigation against the company we hired, saying they'd never use heat pumps in a basement and that they wouldn't work for the whole house.
We did research and talked to multiple people before deciding to take out the furnace. Most sources recommend heat pumps for basements. I'm not really sure why this company is against using them.
We have another HVAC company that gave us a quote that we may go back to. Are we crazy? Did we miss something obvious? Or is this another older HVAC professional that is set in their ways of distrusting heat pumps as a sole heat source?
We have a new wood stove in the main level for backup. We're essentially living out of a suitcase while all the work is done, and I don't think we have it in us to pursue legal action or try to reinstall a boiler with new baseboard heaters, including the plumbing.
Sincerely, Glad-this-didn't-happen-in-the-winter-guy

Is this bad?
This is when the unit was off; when it’s on it’s like a stream. Have a puddle along the house now. Never seen it like this. Check the pans in the attic and they’re dry as a bone (ac and water heater). Live in Houston so humid but not too bad now; never seen it like this. Gonna have a professional come tomorrow but wondering if I should keep the unit off.

2023.05.25 18:21 Tithis Replacing aging but working water heater early vs paying down 8% solar loan

We purchased our home in 2020 and it came with a 10 year old and orphaned 40 gallon propane water heater, orphaned meaning it used to share the chimney flue with an old furnace that is no longer present and now the flue is technically oversized, increasing the risk of exhaust gas leaking. With the age of the water heater and our lack of knowledge of maintenance done prior to 2020 I'd like to replace it before it fails and a like-for-like swap isn't an option.
We have two quotes to replace it with a 65 gallon hybrid-electric heater for $4,250. This includes running the new circuit, removing the old heater, relocating the water heater, and a thermostatic mixing valve we requested for safety as we have a young child. There is a federal tax credit for 30% of project costs up to $2,000, so the final cost will be around $3,000 once we get the credit back.
The old unit has a UEF of .59 and the new unit is rated 4.05. Propane has been costing around $3.59/gallon lately, and electricity for us is about $.25/kwh. Per Maine's water heater cost calculator (https://www.efficiencymaine.com/at-home/water-heating-cost-comparison/) the new water heater should save us around $600 a year or around 20% ROI.
With the 20% ROI being higher than the solar loans 8% interest rate it seems like the a better use of the cash. But we are still in the early phase of the solar loan, so extra payments now reduce the monthly bill after it gets re-amortized at 17 months.
And for the record we have $25k in our savings account, more than 6 months of expenses for us and we aren't doing anything dumb like not getting our full match on retirement accounts or not saving 15% a year in them.
