So 5 years on Reddit…(with apologies to John Lennon).
And what have I done, kicked from every Labour sub reddit, when I said anti semitism was dumb.
And so this is Reddit, my sixth year doth come.
More fights about Brexit, Rees-Mogg is a plum.
So happy cake day to me, cos no one else cares.
Must cut down on screen time, fuck world affairs….

2023.06.02 08:16 KeyNun54 How tf do I accomplish anything as tainted lost

No more memes, only pain...
Ok but seriously how do I accomplish anything with this character. The only advice I can seem to find is "don't get hit", or "use X + X item combo" or "Just get X item"
Not getting hit, I understand, except when the game decides you're going to anyway with double adversaries or tiny bomb fly rooms or enemies spawning in unfortunate places.
As for the items, is this really a character where you just hold R on the first floor until you start with something actually good? I hear people describe T.Lost as "you die and its kinda BS but you get powerful items every run", but I really don't see this to be the case. Sometimes, yes, but mostly no, I'm still left with crappy items like orbital tears or lemon party or fart beans or whatever.
I thought that Holy Card spawns were what made this character somewhat fair when I read about the character on the wiki, but I've done about 7 relatively lengthy runs now where ive gotten as far as the depths while minmaxing every floor, and I've literally never seen one spawn once. I've had plenty of cards, I've used the Deck of Cards item a ton, never seen one after the starting one. I tried using glowing hourglass the one time I managed to get it before getting hit for the first time, but then I hit an XL floor where I ran into 3 different rooms that caught me off guard with one of those burrowing worms while I was fighting something else, or a room full of enemies that explode into tears giving me basically no room to dodge, and a genuine hit from a misplay. Got hit one more time during the boss and that was my mantle gone for the rest of the run, which didnt last much longer because I went to masoleum and idk how tf im meant to dodge every enemy on that floor without ever getting hit. I fear my donation machine is gonna run dry trying to scrounge up a good item combo on the early floors before I just die.
As I'm sure you can probably tell, I'm currently fighting demons from that last run, but I'm genuinely wondering if there's anything I can do to help myself other than just get lucky. That's pretty much how Ultrahard went, I was hoping T.Lost wouldn't be the same. Any tips?

EDIT: Tried a new run. Got birthright, Restock, and Book of the Dead floor one. Lost my holy card when an enemy spawned on me. Lost my birthright when Mom stepped twice in 2 seconds and I wasn't ready. Lost the run in Masoleum when a boss spawned on me in a combat room. I'm starting to see why some people think this is poorly designed. I don't understand how im expected to get to Beast without getting hit more than twice max with the game as it is. Deck of Cards appeared when I got the Backpack, still no holy card for the entire run. All this character is doing is highlighting every minor design flaw this game has, and magnifying them to the max. Maybe I'm just pissed off (definitely a factor in this rant), but I'm starting to struggle to find the fun in holding R for 10 minutes to get a single decent item. I get the appeal of the character, I get the fun in the idea that you're a total glass cannon, and I was nothing but excited to try him when I unlocked him, but dear lord the game is trying its best to keep me from having fun.
Rant over lol, but genuinely I'm not sure how much longer im gonna be able to keep convincing myself im having fun with this character. Somehow Jacob and Esau are starting to seem like a better use of my time.
EDIT2: LETS FFFFFUCKING GOOOOOOOOOO
I managed to beat the beast :) I actually had some holy card spawns and an early Glowing Hourglass. Thanks for the advice on getting devil deals, the early damage definitely helped. I eventually managed to reach a point where I could delete everything in the room before it had a chance to move. I wish I could say I got gud, but honestly I think I just lucked out. Time for the other completion marks now :(

2023.05.29 14:24 VercioKing *CONTAINS AEW SPOILERS* Post a Forbidden Door 2023 card you would love to see

Okay, so it's fantasy booking time. We're on that time of the year again, where our imaginations travel and injuries hit. In the meantime, since we're almost in time for Dominion and AEW's major stories will be on hold for a while I thought of interrogating this reddit for having an idea of your Forbidden Door 2 card.
There's no rule in it: you can book MJF losing to Bolting Oleg if you want. The only thing is, try to explain it and to give it a sense, so it gets funnier than the average "oh, I want Okada vs Omega V because Meltzer is going to give it 8 stars and three quarters".

Pay attention, from here I will assume all the readers know it's spoiler territory, so PLEASE, DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER UNLESS YOU ALREADY WATCHED AEW DOUBLE OR NOTHING 2023 OR YOU DO CARE ABOUT BEING SPOILER-FREE ALL ELITE WRESTLING

Let's begin!
Opening Match: AEW World Championship - Maxwell Jacob Friedman (champion) vs "The King" Minoru Suzuki (challenger)
So, an AEW World Title match as an opener? You see, the thing I love the most about MJF is not the character, nor the wrestling abilities. It's his persona and the modernity he brings that makes me love the man. In his Media Scrum interview, he stated "NJPW is an indy". His persona clearly does not want to do the PPV, and so I want to give him someone who, since Inoki's death, is in 本体 (Hontai, NJPW Main Unit). And what a better way for the Toronto crowd to get in the mood, than give them singing 風になれ (kazeninare) for starters? Suzuki can work for 15-20 minutes once in a while now, however, I want this to be a 5 minutes thing where Max cheats his way to the win.

2nd match: CHAOS (BISHAMON, Rocky Romero and Orange Cassidy) vs. BULLET CLUB (David Finlay, Clark Connors, KENTA & Chase Owens)
During the pandemic era, we had OC and Best Friends introduced in CHAOS by Rocky Romero. And with Shibata seamingly leaving LA Dojo and CC beating Young Lions and LA Dojo alumnis all around, there are two interesting matchups for this shakeup: azucar and 100 Proof, but most importantly Finlay and OC. They are both establishing themselves as fighters, but with two different attitudes. Having an exchange there would be incredible. At the end, BISHAMON win with Chase looking at the light.

3rd match: Champion vs Champion - Willow Nightingale (NJPW Strong Women's Champion) vs Toni Storm (AEW World's Women Champion)
The King of Sports introduced two female's titles among their collection. Given the fact STARDOM exists, given the fact for now I do not see a merger between the BUSHIROAD promotions, I also do not see Gedo wanting to give up on the idea that this is a NJPW only event. So, to me these titles are for US territory and for Special matches involving megastars during special events. I do not necessarily agree with this, but also the G1 Climax and the IWGP Heavweight titles were "special attractions". When it comes to this match, with Jamie in the box for a while, this is going to be another piece of the Outcasts vs. Homegrowns feud. Toni would win, setting up for another match for the STRONG title somewhere in the future.

4th match: Owen Hart Cup Finals - "Super Liger" Chris Jericho vs Hiromu Takahashi
Ok, when I thought of this match I said to myself that Y2J has to be in because he's one of the main pieces of the AEW puzzle, so I really do not see special events without him. So I booked a filler, something to get rid in case something cooler pops into my mind. Then I remembered Forbidden Door 2 is going to take place in Canada, so this became a must. Then I read Tony's idea to have Liger's involvement in the Cup. So this, from being an afterthought, has become a priority. Since AEW started, Jericho portrayed all his persona: he did the list, Lionheart, the Painmaker, the Ocho. How cool would it be to see Hiromu, who is beating all Liger's records, surpassing Super Liger?

5th match: IWGP World Heavyweight Championship - SANADA (champion) vs Darby Allin (challenger)
I will start by saying that I'm not that confident that we'll see this match happening. If Yota Tsugi is half as good as the guy I've see in RevPro, we have the reincarnation of Kenta Kobashi (I know, it's very tempting to rage at this, but their physical structure seems identical). So I want to be wrong. But picture this: SANADA's defenses are against a junior (although he's an iconic junior) and a graduating Young Lion. So somehow we have to establish him as a force, or we're having another transitional champion that is going to get racked by Okada for the next Wrestle Kingdom.
Let's take a step back and have a gemba walk on wrestling in 2023. To me, it has been the best year in wrestling in YEARS. We had NJPWxNOAH, All Together, two edition of All Star Juniors, Multiverse United, an awesome Wrestlemania Weekend for the US indies (I heard good things about WWE, but I don't watch it since more than a decade). We had Nakamura going back to Japan and Naito retiring Mutoh. You see where I'm going with this?
With Sting retiring and Muta gone I would love to see this match, with them seconding their guys. At the end, Darby takes the L with some MJF thing happening (now more than ever I'm convinced that Darby is dethroning Maxwell somewhere in the future).

6th match: NJPW STRONG Television Championship - Zack Sabre Jr. (champion) vs "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson Wheeler Yuta (challenger)
As an Italian from Naples, all I know is that when it comes to superstition, neapolitans are only second to the Chinese. So read the name you want, I'm not going to name Daniel Bryan in in this match. Let's say THE Forbidden Door dream match becomes a meme and we see Yuta trying to survive 15 minutes with Zack in the ring. Then, if the name in the strikesthrough is the correct one...

7th match: IWGP Women's Championship - Mayu Iwatani (champion) vs Dr. Britt Baker, DMD (challenger)
Dream match #7. I'm going to be hermetic with this. In my mind, this is the shocker of the night, with Britt Baker winning and holding "hostage" of the title in America and setting up Giulia vs Britt at WK next year. WOW.

8th match: NEVER Six Men Openweight Championship - Blackpool Combat Club (champions) & Shota Umino vs The Elite (El Phantasmo and The Young Bucks) (challengers)
Last year's FD saw great matches with an interesting card. We will never see it, but we expected the emancipation of Hiku Leo in his match with the BULLET CLUB. We received another match, with ELP "replacing" spiritually Kenny Omega. ELP and the Bucks have an almost unexplicable chemistry. ELP is half Marty Scurll, half Kenny Omega, and fits perfectly to the mold of a tag team who is as over the top as ELP is and can do comedy wrestling as well as fast-pacing action or storyline-driven wrestling.
While I was writing it, I changed the champions. Why? Because Kenny said he has one or two friends to call up for support. One is Ibushi, and we'll seeing him at Blood and Guts. The other is none other than ELP.
At first, this was suppose to have the current ones (Okada, Tanahashi and Ishii) in the match and something else planned for Mox. In my head booking, I would have had Tanahashi winning on NJPW STRONG Resurgence but that derailed. Anyways, BCC and Shota retains here, setting up El Phantasmo vs Shooter for G1.
Blackpool retains.

9th match: AEW World Tag Team, NJPW STRONG Tag Team & IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships - WINNER TAKES ALL - BULLET CLUB Gold (Juice Robinson & Jay White) vs House of Torture
I am spending a few words here. We're setting up FTR vs. Juice/Jay in AEW. So, say goodbye to Aussie Open vs FTR 2 in NJPW. Hello, Bullet Club Civil War. We've been waiting one since Tama Tonga said "Who the f\ck is the Elite. huh?*" to Kenny and I guess time and place coincide now. It's time to have Jay winning everything, then having a megabrawl among all the members of BC.

10th match: Kazuchika Okada vs Hiroshi Tanahashi
Semi main-event. D*ckhead Okada does not care about Forbidden Door nor AEW. He just cares about being the best wrestler of all times and pushing wrestling to the next level. He did it by creating a gimmick-match only title, he did it by saying he wanted to be the Six Men Titles to be like a World Cup, failing again. At the change of the guard, Okada says to Tanahashi that it's time for a change. After the fall between Ishii and Tanahashi at Dominion, Okada says this is make it or break it for CHAOS. If he wins, Tanahashi must join CHAOS. If Okada loses, CHAOS must disband.

Main Event: IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship - Kenny Omega (champion) vs Will Ospreay (challenger)
Out of all the matches I do not want to happen, this is at the top of my list. I want Archer to win, my entire plans to change, keeping this dream that started a WK17 as long as I can. It is probably because my dad got diagnosed with cancer and I want stability in my life. I do not want things to end.
However, Kenny never had an "high rate" match in his home turf and it is time time for one. So LFG! Winner? Us.

This concludes my silly stream of consciousness, I hope you had fun reading this! What is your dream card for the most speculated PPV of the year?

2023.05.27 05:40 NRCsummaries Trapped Jamil

5/26
Jacob, in an effort to see if Mostro Lounge staff have rats under their hats, decided to try fishing up one of their hats. He managed to do so, but it remains unconfirmed
Jamil got cornered by Kalim's tigers, to which they decided to lay on him and trapped him
Trey, Riddle, Syene and Deuce found a magestone in the school's basement. It disappeared in Trey's nightly sleepwalking
Jacob decided he should join a club. He's gonna check out the film studies club
Floyd got fish oil in his mattress somehow. He wants it gone, but not the scent
Trey fell out of a tree.. He's in the infirmary for the day
Garriden asked why no one likes him. The answering is obvious, so everyone started trolling him with nice guy memes lmao
I'm sorry idk your name.. but an Ignihyde student is having a horror movie night tonight
I was bored, so I clogged Pomefiore's toilets with toilet paper. Rook make me unclog them right away😔😔😔

2023.05.26 21:57 feelshitdeletelater Silence hits harder than a train

It's an odd thing, talking to people online. There's no real way to have a natural, flowing conversation. You can't feel eachother's real mood. You have words used as a front. As a wall, almost. You decide what to write. Revise it again and again, removing your most personal words so as not to ruin the one thing that will hopefully lead to some good in your shitty little life.
But there's this elephant in the room. You have a question you want to ask. A topic to broach. You mess around with general niceties first to get comfortable, but really you both know there's only one reason why they messaged you and why you're continuing it. So then you prod at that unspoken subject. You veer towards it to get some more in depth talking done. And because you've exhausted "How was your day?", "Any plans for the weekend?", "That Jacob Rees Mogg is a prick, isn't he". So you ask the question you've been wanting to ask. You suggest taking the conversation elsewhere, somewhere where it's easier to have a free-flowing conversation.
Then, nothing. No response. After weeks of stilted conversation, there's nothing. And that's fair enough. Some topics aren't easy to talk about. Some methods of communication are a bit too personal. Too open. Too private. But there is literally no where else for the conversation to go. The only reason why the conversation started is because of that one community you stumbled across them in. Naturally, conversation will go to that place. Killing the conversation there, only to randomly message again, months later, after a particular culturally renowned day crops up again. I mean, it's not healthy for anyone. This constant checking of the phone for a message. This wondering whether or not there's going to be a random ping back. It's rubbish. And then, when it's the only conversation someone will have, the silence that comes after, well, it's really rather shit.
Just getting stuff off my mind. Sometimes my brain just needs emptying.

2023.05.26 12:58 Mundane-Hurry3740 HVEM ER: ✨Malene Emilie Saandgaard✨- Deep Dive Mega Thread PART 2 - TRIGGER WARNING

HVEM ER: ✨Malene Emilie Saandgaard✨- Deep Dive Mega Thread PART 2 - TRIGGER WARNING

Men jo.

Kulten:

How dare he!?

Andre tætte venner var bl.a.

Very good english so nice

The Scammer from Nakskov - Making a Murderer. 😅

Love yall xoxo

2023.05.26 03:44 autotldr Expert banned from UK government event for tweets that criticised Tories

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 70%. (I'm a bot)
A chemical weapons expert has been disinvited from giving a keynote speech at a UK-run expert conference after civil servants discovered social media posts he wrote criticising Conservative ministers and government migration policy.
Dan Kaszeta is one of at least eight speakers banned from government events by an opaque vetting scheme introduced by Jacob Rees-Mogg in 2022, a policy that the banned expert described as an attack on free speech.
"The check on your social media has identified materials that criticised government officials and policy," the email continued, without indicating which postings were deemed unacceptable, or offering Kaszeta a right of appeal.
A few days before the ban email was received in April, he shared a thread of tweets comparing Tory MP Nadine Dorries to a series of car crashes and wrote "Bloody Tories" to accompany a news headline that said "Afghan pilot who served with British forces and fled to UK in small boat facing deportation to Rwanda".
Originally from the US, Kaszeta previously worked in Bill Clinton's and George W Bush's administrations as a chemical weapons expert, then in the US Secret Service, before relocating to the UK 15 years ago to work as an expert consultant.
Colin Talbot, an emeritus professor at Manchester University and expert on the civil service, said he was aware of eight academics who had been banned under the policy.

2023.05.25 22:42 tarvolon Tarvolon Reads a Magazine (or three): Reviews of F&SF, Clarkesworld, and Giganotosaurus (May 2023)

I tried to post this yesterday and got caught in some sort of automated spam filter that the mods couldn't reverse. So don't mind me, just adding some extra text so that the spam filter thinks that there is content here. Because there is! Lots of content. Check out all this content:
Ever since January, I've been a regular with genre magazines, and I've been reviewing them every month. I’ve settled on three publications to follow this year: my two favorites from 2022 and a third that has been a titan of the genre for decades. And after a solid-but-unexceptional April, May was my best month yet, with five pieces crowding my favorites list and plenty of others that were plenty rewarding.

Clarkesworld

I enjoyed almost all of what I read in April’s issue of Clarkesworld, but there wasn’t any one story that really struck me as hitting another level. That changed definitively with the opening piece in May’s issue: Better Living Through Algorithms by Naomi Kritzer. As the title suggests, it’s an “AI making people’s lives better” tale in the mold of Kritzer’s award-winning “Cat Pictures Please.” But whereas I—admittedly reading five years after it came out—found the latter a tad dated, I thought “Better Living Through Algorithms” was excellent. It shines an honest light on common struggles in contemporary life, but presents them in such a way that they feel surmountable. There’s also a real skepticism about the origin of the algorithm in question that resonates with changing societal attitudes since 2015, preventing the story from coming off as naive but without robbing its optimistic tone. This one was a real delight, and given past reception to Kritzer’s work, I’ll be surprised if it doesn’t resonate with a whole lot of people.
Harry Turtledove’s Through the Roof of the World is a fun experiment with perspective, told almost entirely from the perspective of sentient mollusk-like creatures trying to determine the origins of the disturbance above them. It was no real surprise when the answer was revealed, but the execution made it a fun read regardless, with the picture becoming clearer piece-by-piece up to the final conclusion.
The eye-catcher in this month’s table of contents is undoubtedly Suzanne Palmer’s novella-length Beyond the Botnet, featuring the return of Bot 9 and its compatriots from the Hugo-winning novelettes “The Secret Life of Bots” and “Bots of the Lost Ark.” I hadn’t been quite as wowed by the prior stories as the general sci-fi reading public, so I suppose it will come as no surprise that “Beyond the Botnet” wasn’t my personal highlight of the month. That said, it’s easy to see the appeal—Bot 9 is an incredibly endearing lead, and there were no barriers to an easy immersion. The novella length allows for an extended setup that shows off the absolute best of the bot characters, but the action-packed ending ran a little long for my tastes. I still enjoyed my time with the story, but the character-to-action ratio leans a bit more to action than I personally prefer.
Following the novella are five more short stories, four of them under 3,000 words. And while I sometimes struggle to connect at the lower end of the short story length category, I was very impressed by Rich Larson’s LOL, Said the Scorpion. It’s a story about tourism in impoverished communities that literalizes the metaphor of the invisibility of the local population, to dramatic effect. I’ve only read a few of Larson’s works, and I find he’s willing to go darker than I usually prefer, but here it absolutely works. And while I didn't recognize the meme title in advance, it sure fits.
Parker Ragland’s Sensation and Sensibility offers a bit of sci-fi slice-of-life, with a side of robot philosophy, telling simply of a pair of drones having tea and discussing the nature of sensation—both those they experience and the ones barred by their construction. It’s followed by Megan Chee’s The Giants Among Us, which gives brief and intriguing accounts of societies living on the backs of literal giants, tied together by a research effort to try to stop a long and bitter war.
The issue closes with Andy Dudak’s translation of An Hao’s Action at a Distance and with Jordan Chase-Young’s The Fall. The former features an encounter with a planet that warps perception in such a way that explorers inevitably crash and die before landing. It’s hard to describe entirely alien forms of perception, but the story makes a solid attempt, with enough plot to provide a driving motivation. Chase-Young’s piece is nearly as disorienting, a sci-fi/horror tale that sees the lead exploring the forested remnants of a dead Moon civilization. It’s an evocative narrative, laced with the uncanny and ambiguous.
This month’s letter from the editor takes a break from examining the dual crises of ChatGPT and Amazon’s rolling magazine subscriptions into Kindle Unlimited, instead sharing details of a successful call for Spanish-language submissions. This removes the burden on authors to commission their own translations, as the eight stories accepted will be translated into English by Clarkesworld. It’s another excellent step for a magazine with a deep commitment to inclusion of international sci-fi.
The essay provides a fascinating take on sci-fi and horror—so often opposite in the former’s rewards and the latter’s punishments for exploration and heroism—and how they can come together in fantastic ways. This month’s author interviews were with Premee Mohamed and Megan O’Keefe. I’ve read little of either, but I certainly came away looking for more opportunities to read Mohamed.

GigaNotoSaurus

One of the downsides of publishing just one story a month is that a publication can deliver fairly consistent excellence and still have me feeling like it’s been ages since I was really wowed. Fortunately, May’s GigaNotoSaurus story broke the small-but-long drought of three consecutive issues without hitting my favorites list, with the long short story Any Percent by Andrew Dana Hudson. Part litRPG, part union story, it tells of Luckless, a warehouse worker fleeing the hardship and tedium of real life by trying to speedrun his way to becoming the richest person in the world in a popular simulation game.
It opens with an engaging, albeit low-stakes account of the virtual exploration that earned him niche recognition as the discoverer of several time-shaving skips. But as life gets harder, his desire for virtual accomplishment only increases, leading down a predictable spiral in which his virtual persona becomes everything he hates in real life. It’s a really fascinating story, with enough of a dive into game mechanics to help the reader understand the strategy behind the main character’s pursuit, while keeping a firm enough foot in the real world to maintain the feel of a truly character-driven piece, with thematic weight but without eschewing that vital glimmer of hope.

Fantasy & Science Fiction

The May/June issue of The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction was heavy on the shorter pieces, with just two novelettes compared to eight short stories and four flash fictions, in addition to the usual poetry and reviews. And perhaps unsurprisingly, given the breakdown, it was the short stories where I found my favorites.
The issue opens with an epistolary tale of pyramid exploration, Fawaz Al-Matrouk’s On the Mysterious Events at Rosetta. If you’re at all familiar with the subgenre, this story probably goes as you’d expect, but it’s an entertaining read nonetheless. It’s followed by one of the issue’s two novelettes: The Dire Delusion by Matthew Hughes. “The Dire Delusion” is a sort of magical whodunnit, with thieves waking up with their loot gone and no memory of anyone who might’ve taken it. As with many stories of this sort, I find that the list of suspects isn’t fleshed out well enough to be especially satisfying as a mystery, but Hughes introduces an entertaining world and keeps the story moving well enough to maintain the reader’s interest.
Next comes a pair of short stories about family in non-Western cultures, Kiran Kaur Saini’s Amrit and Lark Morgan Lu’s In Time, All Foxes Grieve Westward. The former involves an aging man receiving an AI in-home assistant, forcing him to confront both his deteriorating mind and body and his fraught relationship with his adult son. It’s another story that’s not especially hard to predict, but the excellent storytelling and character work make it well worth the read regardless. If you enjoy grumpy old men, this one is a gem. The latter features a fox who has immigrated to America and taken the form of a human, coming home to visit his dying mother and dealing with the fallout of the clash between his life and her expectations. I found it a little more difficult to immerse here than in “Amrit,” but I could certainly see this story hitting hard for those with more firsthand experience with the theme.
Smack in the middle of the issue were my two favorite stories from this edition of F&SF. A Conjure-Horse in San Ouvido by Ferdison Cayetano is a wonderful blend of mythologies and war stories, with a Black soldier leaving his island off the Carolinas to fight in the Philippines, where he not only finds some familiar magic, but that he may have more in common with the local population than with the American soldiers serving alongside him. It’s a story that leans into the mystical while still having some hard-hitting emotional passages and satisfying plot progression.
But for the third straight issue, my absolute favorite Fantasy & Science Fiction story was a near future sci-fi. Do I have a niche? Maybe. In the May/June issue, that honor went to Highway Requiem by T.R. Napper. Somewhat amusingly, “Highway Requiem” marked the third story I’d read in just the last couple months that focused on the post-automation trucking industry. But I loved Ray Nayler’s “The Empty,” and I loved this one, so I guess I’ll roll with the trucks as long as they’re working. Napper’s piece is neither neat nor happy, but it’s a deeply personal piece that explores so many nuances of both the social benefits and harms that come out of the transformation of transportation, while still managing to be the most emotionally affecting story I read all month. The worldbuilding is excellent, and the lead character so gripping that it’s easy to feel his yearning and anxieties. Excellent work.
The Lucky Star by Dr. Bunny McFadden provides a more lighthearted turn, with a short, fun piece about a queer bar on Titan. It is in turn followed by a more serious piece, Zig Zag Claybourne’s For the Benefit of Mr. Khite, featuring a being meant to serve as an intermediary between humans and various other artificial Intelligences. Very much a “learning to be human” story, it explores everything from physical sensation to a search for meaning in life.
I have so consistently struggled to engage with flash fiction that I wonder whether I should just note the existence of the flash pieces and move on, just like with the poetry and review sections. Maybe next time. For now, I’ll be brief with the issue’s four flash fictions: Time and Art by Barbara Krasnoff, I Paint the Light With My Mother’s Bones by K.J. Aspey, We Are Happy to Serve You by Margaret Dunlap, and Titan Retreat by Ria Rees. I probably resonated most with “Time and Art,” the longest of the four and also the most straightforward story, a parable-like tale about time and what we make of it. “I Paint the Light With My Mother’s Bones” is far and away the richest in metaphor and lyricism, with a girl in a transforming basement fighting off the dark, but by the same token, it was the hardest to grasp on the initial read. “We Are Happy to Serve You” is the shortest of the bunch, a small piece about automated food kiosks with a punchy ending. And “Titan Retreat” is a sometimes-poignant piece of character backstory that feels a bit incomplete on its own.
After the poetry and flash fiction, the issue returns to longer works for two final pieces. Knotty Girl by Melissa A. Watkins is a Black retelling of Rapunzel that leans into the unsettling elements. And the issue’s second novelette, A Truth So Loyal and Vicious by Fatima Taqvi, serves as an excellent capstone, with a folkloric story of prophecies and curses, the bond of sisterhood and a creature that trades magic for truth. Many of the themes are familiar, but they’re beautifully tied together.

May Favorites

You can also find this post on my blog, along with lots of novel reviews and a monthly round-up of short fiction I read outside my normal magazine rotation. (This was a great month there too, so I'm looking forward to writing up another post full of short fiction recs).

2023.05.25 15:51 Budget-Song2618 Are voter ID laws all about gerrymandering and boosting Tory support rather than tackling electoral fraud as the government tried to claim? Or as Rees-Mogg admitted, voter ID changes are an attempt to rig elections in the Tories’ favour, to see even more young people and minorities lose their vote?

The draft legislation:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/elections-act-postal-and-proxy-voting-safeguards
was published on 23 may and parts will come into force on 31 october, the remainder on 31 january 2024 (regulation 1(2)–(3)). statutory instruments can't be amended and given the composition of the present parliament there's no prospect of it being rejected. this will be in place before the next general election.
None of the news reports have explored precisely how intrusive this will be. Postal voters will now be required to provide a national insurance number or if unable to do so provide a reason why they can't (regulation 5(3)(a)). There will be a greater level of data sharing with the dwp (reg. 56b). There are new powers for the electoral registration officer to demand additional evidence from voters if they consider it necessary (reg. 56c). They're introducing an 'individual electoral registration digital service' under the control of the secretary of state but which given their modus operandi possibly will be built or operated by an outsourced business (reg. 3(2)(a)). and so on. Yet more expense, more bureaucracy, more central government control.

2023.05.24 11:10 Awesomeuser90 How often (and in what circumstances) would people in your area dress up in culturally traditional clothes?

To the degree you can say traditional I guess. Not like British people have a tendency to walk around London wearing a tricorne hat, red serge, and a Brown Bess musket, or ride around with Victorian dress, a top hat, sitting on a penny farthing telling orphans to sweep your chimney for a half farthing a week unless your name is Jacob Rees Mogg.
I did see a lot of people at a mosque recently on Friday wearing a cylindrical hat and long tunic which Google tells is a thobe.

Lore Tinfoil: Moses and Aaron theory
Your grand kids ask you how you became so successful, you will get out your Torah or Bible and open up to Exodus and say, “This is a story about BBBY. The reason it says Moses instead of Ryan Cohen, Aaron instead of Bill Pulte, and Jethro instead of Carl Icahn, is because of the SEC.” Your wise but smart-ass little grand kid will tell you, “Is this the Tinfoil shit you were eating up when Grandma left?” To which you will reply, “Not everyone is born with Diamond hands. But you got my genes, one of which is the Highly Regarded Person’s gene, which means that you will make history.” “But grandpa, could there ever be a squeeze like there was in the summer of ‘23?” “There doesn’t need to be, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t going to still try.”
Hopefully in that time, our grandkids will be able to enjoy a more transparent and fair market, where the goal is to build value into the framework of our country and world rather than profit from sucking it out. I think this is what Pulte’s Tweet was referring to where his son was wearing the number 3 despite being named William Pulte the fifth. Pulte wants his son and all of us to live in a world where people regardless of the size of their bank account can invest and be shareholders in enterprises they believe in.

https://preview.redd.it/f9xmp046fq1b1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=ed46d5f54facfbd3759875d4e7319d4943b6f89a
The American stock market is a relatively new thing, and is still taking form–I am reminded about that when I travel abroad and people refer to America as a young country. 1776 was not very long ago when compared to other civilizations. In BBBY it seems the reference it is being compared to is GME or Volkswagen, but this is bigger than a jump in stock price–this is the end of an old era and the beginning of a new one. BBBY is not like GME or Volkswagen, it is most like Israel at the end of their captivity in Egypt.
Many people don’t know why Moses had to rescue Israel from bondage. Abraham was supposed to live in Canaan, as well as his son Issaac and Jacob. Jacob, also known as Israel, left Canaan(the promised land) to join Joseph in his financial success. They used that financial success to make profit at the local Egyptian’s expense. The Egyptians eventually turned the tables.
Joseph had been sold as a slave and worked his way up the hierarchy to be the top servant. The goal was never to be free, but to be the best slave. This is analogous to the same model of career development that Jordan Peterson espouses in his book Beyond Order. The viability of doing a free internship, and being someone’s bitch until you pay your dues and get your turn on top, is over. Amazon for example doesn’t hire internally. You can’t just work your way up. Not only can you not start off in the warehouse and then move your way up, they will probably just wear you out and try to get you to quit. They aren’t even secretive about these tactics. People like Jordan Peterson, Charlie Munger and Warren Buffet suggest leaving the promised land to work up the ranks through Egypt, despite the ladder to climb not still being there.
What does it mean that because of our parents we were born into bondage in Egypt? The two paths laid out for us was to go to college or trade school, and then work your way up. The debt was normalized although comparatively the cost of tuition and cost of owning a house are an order of magnitude higher. Even renting in a safe area has become impossible. They check your credit and see that you have more student loans that you can pay off at the rate you are going, and they don’t want to lease you an apartment. As the Maverick of Wall street says, the best we can even dream of is owning a van to live in down by the river.
Luckily there are people who are trying to make a way for us to get out of slavery and actually be free.
The process of saving our generation follows the same path as Moses and Aaron saving Israel from Egypt. I hope you enjoy this Fantasy DD

Exodus 1:8 Eventually, a new king came to power in Egypt who knew nothing about Joseph or what he had done.
  1. He said to his people, “Look, the people of Israel now outnumber us and are stronger than we are.
  2. We must make a plan to keep them from growing even more. If we don’t, and if war breaks out, they will join our enemies and fight against us. Then they will escape from the country.”
  3. So the Egyptians made the Israelites their slaves. They appointed brutal slave drivers over them, hoping to wear them down with crushing labor. They forced them to build the cities of Pithom and Rameses as supply centers(Amazon) for the king.
  4. But the more the Egyptians oppressed them, the more the Israelites multiplied and spread, and the more alarmed the Egyptians became.
  5. So the Egyptians worked the people of Israel without mercy.
  6. They made their lives bitter, forcing them to mix mortar and make bricks and do all the work in the fields. They were ruthless in all their demands.
  7. Then Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, gave this order to the Hebrew midwives, Shiphrah and Puah:
16.“When you help the Hebrew women as they give birth, watch as they deliver. If the baby is a boy, kill him; if it is a girl, let her live.” (make it difficult for young men to have a real career)
  1. But because the midwives feared God, they refused to obey the king’s orders. They allowed the boys to live, too.
  2. So the king of Egypt called for the midwives. “Why have you done this?” he demanded. “Why have you allowed the boys to live?”
  3. “The Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women,” the midwives replied. “They are more vigorous and have their babies so quickly that we cannot get there in time.” (A generation of Self-starters who learned to teach ourselves.)
  4. So God was good to the midwives, and the Israelites continued to multiply, growing more and more powerful.
  5. And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families of their own. (Discord groups. APRN group is super intelligent)
  6. Then Pharaoh gave this order to all his people: “Throw every newborn Hebrew boy into the Nile River. But you may let the girls live.” (Infinite liquidity of the FTDs)
2:1. About this time, a man and woman from the tribe of Levi got married. (The tribe of Levi was the only tribe that could read and write. They were in charge of understanding the law of God. Who knows how to read and write? The online community where DD is being researched and written.
  1. The woman became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She saw that he was a special baby(Ryan Cohen) and kept him hidden for three months.
  2. But when she(the internet community) could no longer hide him, she got a basket made of papyrus reeds and waterproofed it with tar and pitch. She put the baby in the basket(A market basket refers to a selection of goods and services that are consistently purchased and sold throughout an economic system. Economists, politicians, and financial analysts use market baskets to track price changes over time and determine inflation levels.) and laid it among the reeds(subreddits discussing the true deep value which was not reflected in the share price) along the bank of the Nile River(largest flow of FTDs.)
  3. The baby’s sister then stood at a distance, watching to see what would happen to him. (The whole online community watched GME)
  4. Soon Pharaoh’s daughter came down to bathe in the river, and her attendants walked along the riverbank. When the princess saw the basket among the reeds, she sent her maid to get it for her.
  5. When the princess opened it, she saw the baby. The little boy was crying, and she felt sorry for him. “This must be one of the Hebrew children,” she said.
  6. Then the baby’s sister approached the princess. “Should I go and find one of the Hebrew women to nurse the baby for you?” she asked.
  7. “Yes, do!” the princess replied. So the girl went and called the baby’s mother.
  8. “Take this baby and nurse him for me,” the princess told the baby’s mother. “I will pay you for your help.” So the woman took her baby home and nursed him.
  9. Later, when the boy was older, his mother brought him back to Pharaoh’s daughter, who adopted him as her own son. The princess named him Moses, for she explained, “I lifted him out of the water.”
  10. Many years later, when Moses had grown up, he went out to visit his own people, the Hebrews, and he saw how hard they were forced to work. During his visit, he saw an Egyptian beating one of his fellow Hebrews. (BBBY being destroyed by Tritton, with his Golden Parachute deployed and handing the shareholder value to the short hedge funds)
  11. After looking in all directions to make sure no one was watching, Moses killed the Egyptian and hid the body in the sand. (Ryan Cohen buys in and writes a letter to the board)
  12. The next day, when Moses went out to visit his people again, he saw two Hebrew men fighting. “Why are you beating up your friend?” Moses said to the one who had started the fight. (GME purists hating on Bobbies, and AMC, and GME, BBBY, and AMC apes all hating on the red-headed step child meme stock APRN.)
  13. The man replied, “Who appointed you to be our prince and judge? Are you going to kill me as you killed that Egyptian yesterday?” Then Moses was afraid, thinking, “Everyone knows what I did.” (Bobbies feeling betrayed when RC sold…or supposedly sold.)
  14. And sure enough, Pharaoh heard what had happened, and he tried to kill Moses. But Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in the land of Midian. When Moses arrived in Midian, he sat down beside a well.
  15. Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters who came as usual to draw water and fill the water troughs for their father’s flocks.
  16. But some other shepherds came and chased them away. So Moses jumped up and rescued the girls from the shepherds. Then he drew water for their flocks.
  17. When the girls returned to Reuel, their father, he asked, “Why are you back so soon today?”
  18. “An Egyptian rescued us from the shepherds,” they answered. “And then he drew water for us and watered our flocks(poor reddit degens).”
  19. “Then where is he?” their father asked. (Is RC still coming for Baby?) “Why did you leave him there? Invite him to come and eat with us.” (Maybe he didn’t betray us. Maybe selling his shares and Chapter 11 are part of the plan.
  20. Moses accepted the invitation, and he settled there with him. In time, Reuel gave Moses his daughter Zipporah to be his wife.
  21. Later she gave birth to a son, and Moses named him Gershom, for he explained, “I have been a foreigner in a foreign land.”
  22. Years passed, and the king of Egypt died(Finra is pulled into a lawsuit for the corruption that happened during MMTLP). But the Israelites continued to groan under their burden of slavery. (Everyone who was in MMTLP still lost out) They cried out for help, and their cry rose up to God.
  23. God heard their groaning, and he remembered his covenant promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
  24. He looked down on the people of Israel and knew it was time to act.
3:1. One day Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro(Carl Icahn), the priest of Midian. He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God(Activist investing).
  1. There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush. Moses stared in amazement. Though the bush was engulfed in flames, it didn’t burn up. (A tree in dream language is a choice. It is the connection between heaven/the mind and Earth/the heart. Fire is passion, which is the result of an intention from the heart moving to the mind to be framed up logically, and then being put into action. Ryan Cohen made the decision to risk it all to change the stock market to be more transparent and fair.)
  2. “This is amazing,” Moses said to himself. “Why isn’t that bush burning up?(I did it once with GME, but the passion is still there) I must go see it.(BBBY)”
  3. When the LORD saw Moses coming to take a closer look, God called to him from the middle of the bush, “Moses! Moses!” “Here I am!” Moses replied.
  4. “Do not come any closer,” the LORD warned. “Take off your sandals(shoes like any other container are an identity or ego), for you are standing on holy ground. (Doing it out of good conscience rather than to make a name for himself. Shoes also are a barrier to the earth which is the heart.)
  5. I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” When Moses heard this, he covered his face because he was afraid to look at God. (RC trying to convince himself that he just has “a dark sense of humor” instead of accepting the fact that he is literally Moses saving a whole generation)
  6. Then the LORD told him, “I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their cries of distress because of their harsh slave drivers. (Amazon not hiring internally and purposely trying to have high employee turnover) Yes, I am aware of their suffering.(Crushing student debt for degrees that are worthless at interest that is absurd. 16% really? But seriously, really? WTF? Amazon and everyone else including morons like Three Arrows Capital got zero percent interest loans for the last ten years, and now a semester away from graduating and they won’t even give me a loan at 16% when I worked my ass off to pay off all my credit cards?)
  7. So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and lead them out of Egypt into their own fertile and spacious land. It is a land flowing with milk(altruism eg. Norse myth Auðumbla) and honey(the reward of working together) —the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites now live.
  8. Look! The cry of the people of Israel has reached me, and I have seen how harshly the Egyptians abuse them.
  9. Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh. You must lead my people Israel out of Egypt.”(a rigged market run by bankers. The same bankers that funded both sides of every war. The same bankers that accepted pillaged money from the Nazis)
  10. But Moses protested to God, “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?”
  11. God answered, “I will be with you. And this is your sign that I am the one who has sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God at this very mountain.” Mountain spring water bottle shaped MOASS)
  12. But Moses protested, “If I go to the people of Israel and tell them, ‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ they will ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what should I tell them?”
  13. God replied to Moses, “ I Am Who I Am. (The share price should be what it is, which should be the result of price discovery.) Say this to the people of Israel: I Am has sent me to you.”
  14. God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: Yahweh(Yolo All Hard Work Earnings Hedonistically), the God of your ancestors—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you. This is my eternal name, my name to remember for all generations.
  15. “Now go and call together all the elders of Israel.(The DD writers and Shit-posters of reddit) Tell them, ‘Yahweh, the God of your ancestors—the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—has appeared to me. He told me, “I have been watching closely, and I see how the Egyptians are treating you.
  16. I have promised to rescue you from your oppression in Egypt. I will lead you to a land flowing with milk and honey—the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites now live.”’
  17. “The elders of Israel will accept your message. Then you and the elders must go to the king of Egypt and tell him, ‘The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. So please let us take a three-day journey into the wilderness to offer sacrifices to the LORD, our God.
  18. “But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless a mighty hand forces him. (Pulte)
  19. And I will cause the Egyptians to look favorably on you. They will give you gifts when you go so you will not leave empty-handed. (Shareholders will not get rekted)
  20. Every Israelite woman will ask for articles of silver and gold and fine clothing from her Egyptian neighbors and from the foreign women in their houses. You will dress your sons and daughters with these, stripping the Egyptians of their wealth.” (Wealth transfer from the soulless banks and hedge funds to the loyal retail investors.)
4:1. But Moses protested again, “What if they won’t believe me or listen to me? What if they say, ‘The LORD never appeared to you’?”
  1. Then the LORD asked him, “What is that in your hand?” “A shepherd’s staff,” Moses replied. (In dream language a staff is the same as the trunk of the tree or a magic wand which represents the connection between the heart and the mind, the yin and the yang, which is the will power. RC in the GMEDD interview “chewy almost killed me…but I can’t stop” Because as Jesus said, “I know my sheep and my sheep know me, and I would give my life for them. John 6:39 “And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them up at the last day.” Ryan Cohen’s tweet May 11, 2023 “Give me liberty or give me death! Unless there is a 99% recovery[of shareholder value])
  2. “Throw it down on the ground,”(let it go to OTC) the LORD told him. So Moses threw down the staff, and it turned into a snake! Moses jumped back. (RC seemed to be out completely from BBBY)
  3. Then the LORD told him, “Reach out and grab its tail.” So Moses reached out and grabbed it, and it turned back into a shepherd’s staff in his hand. (Catch BBBY at the tail end of its existence. Matthew 20 parable of the 11th hour)
  4. “Perform this sign,” the LORD told him. “Then they will believe that the LORD, the God of their ancestors—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob—really has appeared to you.”
  5. Then the LORD said to Moses, “Now put your hand inside your cloak.” So Moses put his hand inside his cloak, and when he took it out again, his hand was white as snow with a severe skin disease. (IEP share price going down)
  6. “Now put your hand back into your cloak,” the LORD said. So Moses put his hand back in, and when he took it out again, it was as healthy as the rest of his body. (IEP share price recovering)
  7. The LORD said to Moses, “If they do not believe you and are not convinced by the first miraculous sign, they will be convinced by the second sign.
  8. And if they don’t believe you or listen to you even after these two signs, then take some water from the Nile River and pour it out on the dry ground. When you do, the water from the Nile will turn to blood on the ground.”(In dream language blood is a promise or a covenant. The Nile is the FTDs. Blood is the Apes buying up the float(dry ground) and diamond-handing with a covenant for Lambos or food stamps.)
  9. But Moses pleaded with the LORD, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.” (RC with the SEC watching what he says like a hawk despite turning a blind eye to literally everything else in the financial world.)
  10. Then the LORD asked Moses, “Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the LORD?
  11. Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.”
  12. But he said, “Oh, my Lord, please send someone else.”
  13. Then the LORD became angry with Moses. “All right,” he said. “What about your brother, Aaron(Pulte) the Levite? I know he speaks well. And look! He is on his way to meet you now. He will be delighted to see you.
  14. Talk to him, and put the words in his mouth. I will be with both of you as you speak, and I will instruct you both in what to do.
  15. Aaron will be your spokesman to the people. He will be your mouthpiece, and you will stand in the place of God for him, telling him what to say.
  16. And take your shepherd’s staff with you, and use it to perform the miraculous signs I have shown you.”
  17. So Moses went back home to Jethro, his father-in-law. “Please let me return to my relatives in Egypt,” Moses said. “I don’t even know if they are still alive.”(still hodling and averaging down) “Go in peace,” Jethro(Carl) replied.
  18. Before Moses left Midian, the LORD said to him, “Return to Egypt, for all those who wanted to kill you have died.” (Tritton is gone although the selfish bastard is still trying to pillage a severance he in no way deserves)
  19. So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey(the most stubborn animal), and headed back to the land of Egypt. In his hand he carried the staff of God.
  20. And the LORD told Moses, “When you arrive back in Egypt, go to Pharaoh and perform all the miracles I have empowered you to do. But I will harden his heart so he will refuse to let the people go. (God will convince wall street to max out the short interest and dig their own grave.)
  21. Then you will tell him, ‘This is what the LORD says: Israel is my firstborn son. (Banks can only exist when people work hard and actually create value, and so it doesn’t make sense for banks to destroy value and think that they are getting richer. You are literally cutting the branch you are standing on. Besides a convenient entry into world war 2, some successful coups and probably more exploitation than I want to think about, the American Dollar was built on blood sweat and tears of the hard working class.)
  22. I commanded you, “Let my son go, so he can worship me.” But since you have refused, I will now kill your firstborn son!’” (You gave big businesses zero percent interest for a decade and now you want to raise interest rates which only affects middle and lower class, and consolidates the power in the few big banks? Fine, we will continue to buy the stock market and let inflation run. You love your dollar so much, well we are crazy regards, and we are fine sleeping in our cars and literally dumping every penny into the stock market, which makes inflation look bad. We know who is really scared of the bubble popping or inflation getting out of control, and it isn’t us.)
  23. On the way to Egypt, at a place where Moses and his family had stopped for the night, the LORD confronted him and was about to kill him.
  24. But Moses’ wife, Zipporah, took a flint knife(small sword of truth) and circumcised(exposed logically the sensitive part of the mind) her son. She touched his feet(direction in life) with the foreskin(sacrifice) and said, “Now you are a bridegroom(integrated) of blood to me.”
  25. (When she said “a bridegroom of blood,” she was referring to the circumcision.) After that, the LORD left him alone.
  26. Now the LORD had said to Aaron, “Go out into the wilderness to meet Moses.” So Aaron went and met Moses at the mountain of God, and he embraced him.
  27. Moses then told Aaron everything the LORD had commanded him to say. And he told him about the miraculous signs the LORD had commanded him to perform. (This is completely figurative, RC and Pulte are not colluding to manipulate the market. Any investment that overlaps between Pulte and RC is just because the deep fucking value RC brings to the table is obvious.)
  28. Then Moses and Aaron returned to Egypt and called all the elders of Israel together.
  29. Aaron told them everything the LORD had told Moses, and Moses performed the miraculous signs as they watched.
  30. Then the people of Israel were convinced that the LORD had sent Moses and Aaron. When they heard that the LORD was concerned about them and had seen their misery, they bowed down and worshiped. (Wor-ship: Wor = worth. Ship = to make. Worship means to add value to something of value not to just claim to care about it.)
5:1. After this presentation to Israel’s leaders, Moses and Aaron went and spoke to Pharaoh. They told him, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Let my people go so they may hold a festival in my honor in the wilderness.”
  1. “Is that so?” retorted Pharaoh. “And who is the LORD?(truth) Why should I listen to him and let Israel go? I don’t know the LORD, and I will not let Israel(Retail investors) go.”
  2. But Aaron and Moses persisted. “The God of the Hebrews has met with us,” they declared. “So let us take a three-day journey into the wilderness so we can offer sacrifices to the LORD our God. If we don’t, he will kill us with a plague or with the sword.” (We have dreams and no capital to act on them. Literally what Theranos claimed to have done has already actually been done and hasn’t because of a 100k start up cost.)
  3. Pharaoh replied, “Moses and Aaron, why are you distracting the people from their tasks? Get back to work!
  4. Look, there are many of your people in the land, and you are stopping them from their work.” (more apes gathering and degenerately throwing their hard earned money into bbby)
  5. That same day Pharaoh sent this order to the Egyptian slave drivers and the Israelite foremen:
  6. “Do not supply any more straw for making bricks. Make the people get it themselves! “In dream symbolism grass is like hair, it represents naiveness. Bricks are wisdom. The strength of the wisdom comes from looking into your own naiveness. Wall street keeps clear answers from the public about what actually goes on behind the scenes at wall street. Like waiting to use the word “receivership when talking about FRC until Sunday night so that they could halt trading and then give the shareholders nothing despite tens of billions of dollars of value went to JPM. My naiveness of knowing that someone like JPM would want the high-end clients of FRC was eclipsed by the limitless corruption. I felt like a genius catching the bounce from $2 to $2.40 right before it got halted. Well, wisdom isn’t free, and I don’t regret it. I should have l guessed who the buyer would be and known they weren’t interested in shareholders. That is why I feel more confident in RC.)
  7. But still require them to make the same number of bricks as before. Don’t reduce the quota. They are lazy. That’s why they are crying out, ‘Let us go and offer sacrifices to our God.’ (Yes, have them running their own business which has nothing to do with their useless medical degree, so they can do their biotech invention, but they need to multiply their capital in the stock market, so they are trying to learn enough to beat the algos which control everything.)
  8. Make the work harder on the men so they will be occupied and pay no attention to these lies.” (the generation before us was so busy breaking their backs building the country, that they didn’t have time to figure out how the stock market worked. How did retirement funds thank them?)
  9. So the slave drivers and foremen went out and told the people: “This is what Pharaoh says: I will not provide any more straw for you.
  10. Go and get it yourselves. Find it wherever you can. But you must produce just as many bricks as before!”
  11. So the people scattered throughout the land of Egypt in search of stubble(high risk high reward beat down companies) to use as straw.
  12. Meanwhile, the Egyptian slave drivers continued to push hard. “Meet your daily quota of bricks, just as you did when we provided you with straw!” they demanded.
  13. Then they whipped the Israelite foremen they had put in charge of the work crews. “Why haven’t you met your quotas either yesterday or today?” they demanded.
  14. So the Israelite foremen went to Pharaoh and pleaded with him. “Please don’t treat your servants like this,” they begged.
  15. “We are given no straw, but the slave drivers still demand, ‘Make bricks!’ We are being beaten, but it isn’t our fault! Your own people are to blame!”
  16. But Pharaoh shouted, “You’re just lazy! Lazy! That’s why you’re saying, ‘Let us go and offer sacrifices to the LORD.’
  17. Now get back to work! No straw will be given to you, but you must still produce the full quota of bricks.”
  18. The Israelite foremen could see that they were in serious trouble when they were told, “You must not reduce the number of bricks you make each day.”
  19. As they left Pharaoh’s court, they confronted Moses and Aaron, who were waiting outside for them.
  20. The foremen said to them, “May the LORD judge and punish you for making us stink before Pharaoh and his officials. You have put a sword into their hands, an excuse to kill us!”
  21. Then Moses went back to the LORD and protested, “Why have you brought all this trouble on your own people, Lord? Why did you send me?
  22. Ever since I came to Pharaoh as your spokesman, he has been even more brutal to your people. And you have done nothing to rescue them!”
6:1. Then the LORD told Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh. When he feels the force of my strong hand, he will let the people go. In fact, he will force them to leave his land!”
  1. And God said to Moses, “I am Yahweh—‘the LORD.’ (Yolo All Hard Worked-for Earnings Hedonistically NFA)
  2. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty’—but I did not reveal my name, Yahweh, to them.
  3. And I reaffirmed my covenant with them. Under its terms, I promised to give them the land of Canaan, where they were living as foreigners.
  4. You can be sure that I have heard the groans of the people of Israel, who are now slaves to the Egyptians. And I am well aware of my covenant with them.
  5. “Therefore, say to the people of Israel: ‘I am the LORD. I will free you from your oppression and will rescue you from your slavery in Egypt. I will redeem you with a powerful arm and great acts of judgment.
  6. I will claim you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God who has freed you from your oppression in Egypt.
  7. I will bring you into the land I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I will give it to you as your very own possession. I am the LORD!’”
The rest of the story follows that signs and wonders as shown, and Moses parts the red sea(FTDs) and leaves Egypt on dry ground. A snap shot of some of the signs and wonders:

Jan 25, 2023 “You know you’ve made it when you buy a Turtleneck” (A turtleneck is a type of bond that is hard to buy because a big entity is holding all of them and isn’t selling. They were holding the bonds and taking the company down.)

Feb 14, 2023 “Someone tell the government(bbby board) to stop shooting down my Balloons.” (A balloon payment is a larger-than-usual one-time payment at the end of the loan term. RC was referring to his offer to buy buy buy baby.)

Mar 8, 2023 HELLO - Help Eliminate the Levy on Locution (HELLO) Act. Locution is an utterance regarded in terms of its intrinsic meaning or reference, as distinct from its function or purpose in context. Ryan wants to be able to openly talk about his plans and openly make deals, but he can’t. The SEC would punish him in a heartbeat despite letting market makers intentionally fail-to-deliver and not even have to make it right for 35 days. And even then, can do the same thing indefinitely.

TLDR: We will be in the promised land flowing with milk and honey, behind a Wendy’s, or checked into gamblers rehab.

2023.05.24 05:32 Azulmostrolounge NRC summaries

Hello. Epel currently seems to be MIA, so I will take over the summaries today. I likely won't be as thorough, but it will be a run through
So apparently likes minion memes. Never knew people found those funny in the first place
Jade got an outfit that looked like a cross between a mushroom and a maid outfit. I would prefer not to speak on this. I also recieved an outfit I do not wish to speak about
So this is a complicated situation. So Bob had sleepover with Trey last night, and he needed fireflies for unknown reasons. To Trey, the summary was complete gibberish, and he thought everyone was playing a joke on him, even as everyone explained that they weren't. Ortho asked for Trey to type out what he sees, which gave Ortho the opportunity to determine what Trey sees to be a cipher known as a ceasar cipher. From there, Riddle had a theory that we may be able to communicate with the voice by using the caesar cipher in reverse, which appears to have worked. I haven't been paying much attention to this situation, and yet I still feel like I was dissed in some way
Bob made a poll over who is the best housewarden. Currently Vil is winning, to absolutely no ones surprise
Epel made a post ranting about how bad a day he was having and how he wished to punch something. After that, he asked me for homework, so I helped him with it
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is not for the eyes of the characters
Although Azul says that, in actuality Epel went off to punch Garriden thanks to the aforementioned reasons and Azul egging him on for 50 thaumarks, and got hypnotized as a result. Hikaru and Zora showed up to punch him as well, which resulted in the hypnotized Epel fighting back to protect Garriden. Zora used their um to tie Epel up so that he could no longer attack. Zora and Hikaru had their suspicions about Garriden, so he commanded Epel to act like everything was normal. As of right now this has not been resolved
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Speaking of Epel, congratulations, he got his plushie back. Also congratulations to Bob for winning a match in a video game
Someone made a plushie of me. Floyd found it and squeezed it. Why
Trey decided to go to a petting zoo to get some llama hair and invited people to come with him. Jacob, Cater, Riddle, and Najma went with him. So it would be the Heartslabul gang and their honorary Heartslaybul member that went
In the meantime, Ortho and Deuce decided to talk to ghosts using an ouija board. Clearly, that went badly, because Deuce is now possessed and apparently was being violent enough to have to be paralyzed. Ortho and Yuu has been scrambling around everywhere trying to get him unpossessed. As of right now, he is still possessed
Sultan is in labor. There will be baby tigers on campus soon
And that should be everything important. Have a good night everyone
