short version:
the asus x570-e gaming wifi 2 motherboard causes my 5950x cpu to underperform in all core usage by 300 mhz. this is A LOT! this is 8% missing clock speed.
instead of trying to fix the problem, asus support lies and gaslights me to the point where they try to get me to believe, that this broken behavior is perfectly normal.
going so far as to say a cinebench r20 score of 9300 (picture 1 https://imgbox.com/K4Mmeg64 ) is an acceptable score for a 5950x. (IT IS NOT!)

this follows with asus telling me to overclock my cpu with enabling PBO (precision boost overdrive) and changing certain vrm settings alongside with it. (picture 6 https://imgbox.com/0YSIxISr )
support keeps “reseting”. this means, that I talk to a new person, who then takes days to forward the issue to someone else, who then might as said earlier give nonsense “advice”. (e.g. : overclock your computer)
the variance of 5950x scores from professional reviewers was between 9801-10522.
9801 is already an outlier from the asus crosshair viii formula from overclock3d’s review compared to other reviewer scores.
medium score of 5950x reviews is: 10146.
my score is: 9600.6 (0309 bios) 9539.8 (4404 bios)
so I am missing 6% cinebench score and as mentioned in the title 300 mhz all core clock!!!!
the score is worse by a lot than the worst reviewer score.
the clock and score difference is WAY bigger than could get contributed to silicon lottery differences.
so either my motherboard is broken or my cpu is broken.
A: reproduced the issue of missing clock speed and performance
B: the score and clocks are perfectly fine and as expected
C: they were not able to reproduce the issue
now you might have noticed, that A, B and C can’t be true at the same time :D , but asus support doesn’t care and will actually give inherently contradictory statements.
it is absurd and insulting!
so the logical step after their latest nonsense claims and avoiding answering is to ask them specifically for the cinebench scores and clocks, that they saw in their claimed test runs.
remember: reviewer cinebench r20 score average is 10146.44 my score is 9539.78. both stock.
important to know here, that I linked pictures of hardware unboxed running cinebench r20 earlier.
this shows the cpu running at STOCK tdc limit, which is 95 amps.
that not being enough I also send asus a spreadsheet of professional reviewer scores, the boards they used and links to the reviews. NONE of them used PBO of course. (picture 3 https://imgbox.com/zPK6D7x1 )
asus literally is trying to tell me here, that 2+2 = 5!
I send them pictures before, that showed, that 2 + 2 =4 (hardware unboxed picture with stock settings running getting 10k+ cinebench r20 score for example)
NO asus, go screw yourself! 2+2 =/= 5!
your freaking board is broken and your garbage support can try to lie to me and try to gaslight me as much as they want, this won’t change the facts!
this is where it ended at the time.
asus support clearly refused to provide any actual support.
they refused to be honest to a customer on whether or not they recreated the issue.
they continuously lied to me the customer for many many emails over and over again.
they tried to gaslight me to get me to believe, that professional reviewers had PBO enabled to get those stock scores (10146.44 average) and that a 9300-9800 cinebench r20 score is the expected range for a 5950x cpu!
there was no budging. that was the line they were drawing.
a straight middle finger to the customer, who spend 370 euros on one of their garbage products. :/
this is the experience you can expect to get from asus products or worse.

DO actual validation of the issue and share the data through screenshots publicly here on the asus forum:
get 2 5950x cpus 1. being revision/stepping B0, the other being B2. it could be, that the issue is isolated to the B2 stepping, but i doubt it. but hey this is what proper validation looks like and asus has the chips FOR SURE.
run them in the asus crosshair viii hero wifi with the bios version reviewers used like bios 2311 and the latest bios (this board performed properly for reviewers), then test both of those cpus in the ASUS X570-E Gaming WIFI II with 0309 and 4602 bios.
if the board is fine, then the scores should give the almost identical clocks and scores and the scores should be around or above 10k in cinebench r20 and there should be NO regression in scores when updating to a newer bios.
and i would know, that my cpu is broken and i can contact amd for a replacement. (very very unlikely to be the case)
if the x570-e gaming wifi 2 is broken, then it will show a massive drop in scores and clocks as i suspect is the case.
again, post all pictures with hwinfo64 open as a response here in the asus forum thread i created.
assuming it is the board, which is VERY likely, then the following must be done:
work on a fix, which is likely an easy bios fix and then share the fix with a public bios update.
so you grab your bios developers, look at the bios of the asus crosshair viii hero wifi board with bios 2311 and compare it to the asus x570-e gaming wifi 2.
take whatever is broken in the asus x570-e gaming wifi 2 bios and replace it/fix it with the crosshair viii hero wifi bios code with adjustments of course for the x570-e board.
do the same with asus motherboards, that have the same or similar issue. this person has the same or similar issue of missing clock speed/ performance on the asus rog strix x570-i gaming for example:

if the issue is NOT software based, but hardware based and there is no software fix possible, then REPLACE MY BOARD WITH A WORKING ONE!

2. relevant specs of my system:
motherboard: asus X570-E Gaming WIFI II
cpu: 5950x (stepping: 2, revision VRM-B2 according to cpu-z)
bios tested: 4602 (latest), 4404 and 0309 (first bios)
psu: evga p6 750 watt (seasonic built unit)
os: spyware 10 (windows 10) 2 different versions tested and windows 7
lots of bios and software testing was done.
any test, where a screenshot was taken is of course discarded from the score data. (that’s the reason 2 scores in picture 2 are blacked out)
and ambient temp controlled as well as i could.
examples of testing i did:
with and without chipset driver, different chipset driver versions. windows 7 (score gets lower, but clocks stay the same) and 2 spyware 10 versions.
lots and lots of bios settings, which includes disabling any possible asus garbage, that could cause issues and changing core current telemetry offset up and down.
i tried everything i could think of, before contacting asus support basically and i did very strong data collection to present them with the best, most accurate data i could reproduce.

4. examples of other MAJOR asus motherboard problems:
this is for anyone thinking, that my experience with this one product is rare.
the 3 examples given include the biggest asus forum thread with the most views and comments ever (asus x570 dark hero not starting up) and straight up fire risk and thus risk of life, that also didn’t get properly addressed for over 8 months (asus z690 hero):

sending 1.4 volts at the soc.
burning through chips and motherboards too or degrading the cpu permanently.
putting on WARRANTY VOID disclaimers on beta bioses, that were created to stop further degrading or burning through chips by limiting the soc voltage theoretically to 1.30 volts soc as per amd guidance.
it wasn’t actually fixed at the time with beta bioses as it was still far above 1.30 volts for soc voltage.
so asus set out a statement to void your warranty, when you update a bios to one, that should protect your hardware actually, but at the same time, that beta bios, that had ONE JOB! didn’t even do that!!
lots of manufacturers had too high soc voltages, not just asus, but asus was the highest and asus handled it BY FAR the worst way.
3 asus z690 hero fire and risk of life issue:

no full proper recall done for over 8 months.
for a FIRE RISK, you do a PROPER recall, because people could die.
asus did NOT do so.

So I started my streak on Dec 25 2021 and made it to 400 days before I deleted the app. I’ve been thinking about getting it back but some of the lessons are so long and so confusing with very little grammar tips. It gets me overwhelmed and frustrated. I stopped in April when my super Duolingo expired. I’m trying to learn German and Japanese but I already have a bit of a struggle with motivation, and sometimes Duolingo makes it worse. 2023.05.29 18:27 GrenadierSoldat3 Almost a week of constant daily discomfort. Contemplaiting whetever to visit the hospital or not.
I got my gallblader removed on the 17th of April this year and had only minor discomfort which the doctor in the hospital said during my last post surgery check up on the 17th of May is normal but should go away in a while. To sum it up i had no issuess for a week until last Wednesday when the discomfort started. It radiates in the same area before surgery and feels the excact same before the surgery. I should add that i also tried homemade fried food on the 24th which turned out to be a mistake and is the reason for the discomfort in the first place according to my gp who i visited on Thursday. She did a physical exam and since i didn't have loose stool, fever or signs of jaundice (which i still don't have) and the physical exam went fine i was given algifen to manage the discomfort and i was told to be on diet for three days. It somewhat helps but the fact i can still feel it is making me extremely anxious and thanks to that i am naseous and even dizzy. I can eat with no issuess at least so that's a positive i guess. I know it's only been a month and that the surgery was a big deal and will take time to heal but i can't stop thinking of it. The doctors in hospital said i can go there if i have any issuess but since even they told me it will take time to heal i don't want to waste their time or mine due to my irrational fear. I hate feeling like this...

35 AMAB, married, with two beautiful daughters, and about a year ago I discovered I was at odds with my gender assigned at birth and have been subsequently diagnosed with gender dysphoria after exploring my concerns in depth with my psychologist.
This past year I have explored various methods to alleviate gender dysphoria, including mindfulness training, positive affirmations, and self-acceptance courses. Despite my best efforts, I have come to the realization that these methods, including attempting to “think” my way out of my gender dysphoria, have not been serving me well.
One aspect that has been particularly challenging is the disconnection I have from my body. I struggle to fully connect with it and find respect or liking for it. I don't necessarily despise my body, I would just much prefer to have a female body. (Dysphoria for me is a sadness, a sustained sense of hopelessness reminding me I can't have the body I long for). I do however experience euphoria when I wear dresses, makeup etc. That may seem reasonably inert detail, but the fact dysphoria hasn’t manifested in outright hatred towards my body that you so often hear is the case, really compounds to the confusion around justifying the pursuit of hormone therapy, as you'll soon read.
I have experienced a loss of libido and difficulties with sexual satisfaction since discovering I had gender incongruity issues. I found temporary relief from all dysphoria after climaxing, sometimes lasting hours, and this lead me to convince myself that there were perhaps alternative motivations at play or at least hope of alternative ways to disprove or overcome dysphoria. However, after a lot of internalizing and journaling, it occurred to me that it’s actually more likely that the medical professionals are correct in their diagnosis. And my gender, and feelings towards, is probably completely beyond my control. And importantly, that these moments of relief are fleeting, meaningless, and arguably counterproductive as they result in false narratives, so I'm now learning to challenge the thoughts associated with experiencing sudden relief. That flip has been a big step for me, considering I used to spend my mental energy to challenge the dysphoric and euphoric feelings.
Until recently, I've viewed medical transition as being in direct competition with my values. I've really struggled with the notion that my "selfish wants / desires", are somehow getting the better of me, causing me to constantly think about about transitioning.
But I'm finding that I keep arriving at the same conclusion: I am a woman. I am a woman despite my doubts. I am a woman despite my fears. I can't change it. I can't control it, nor can my ambitions, my past achievements, my family. I simply am. I'm not broken. It's not going to "go away". It's not going to change. I might have reached out to the medical staff first, but I'm the last to the party. I need to learn to accept it. Embrace it. And this realization has provided me with a profound sense of clarity amidst the confusion and doubts, as it seems to provide an elegant answer to all of the seemingly irrational and selfish prospects transitioning has, in a way that suppression and ignoring couldn't ever do.
However this newfound clarity has also made me acutely aware of it’s implications. Though it pains me to say (there are some major potential relationship implications here), I have to face the very real possibility that the only viable way forward to live authentically is through medical transitioning, encompassing hormone therapy and potentially surgical interventions. However, despite this understanding, I find myself lacking the inner strength and conviction to make the decision to transition of my own accord.
As indicated earlier, my hesitations and fears of transitioning are largely intertwined with the concern for my marriage, as I fear that fully embracing my true self through transitioning might jeopardize the relationship with my spouse, whom I love deeply.
I don’t know what I expected from medical staff when I received my diagnosis, but I had to call my GP and struggle to get an appointment and request a GAHT consultation just to ask some questions around medical transition. I ended up pulling out during my second appointment for a variety of reasons, chief among them, was that it very much felt like it was my choice to start on hormones, if I want to. I didn’t chose any of this, nor do I want to "choose" to prescribe myself hormones knowing it can really mess things up for me.
I, like most people, respect and carry out medical directives given by medical professionals. And since they had established persistent dysphoria and they had my psychologist report, since they knew how easy I find it to discount my feelings, and surpress, I really feel it would have been more appropriate for them to firmly prescribe me with the most effective known treatment, GAHT, akin to how they have prescribed literally any other prescription for every other ailment I have had, and of course it would be a personal (though not recommended) choice NOT to take the hormones, as it is with any treatment. Rather than frame it as an option I could "chose".
But IANAD, and so I struggle with the prospect of actively “choosing” a treatment that may have significant consequences for my personal life. And as a result, I walked.
I’m at a loss with all this. I’ve been contemplating the role of mindfulness training and self-acceptance in alleviating gender dysphoria. One of the gender affirming care avenues outlined in my psych report suggests that mindfulness training can help disregard negative thoughts and promote self-acceptance. But I’m curious about the actual evidence supporting the effectiveness of mindfulness training in managing gender dysphoria. Are there any studies or research that demonstrate its impact on alleviating gender dysphoria or promoting well-being in individuals who choose not to transition medically?
I consider myself to be of average intelligence, and problem solving ability, and thus most of my thinking needs some degree of contemplating, validating and meditation. I find it challenging to comprehend how mindfulness and self-acceptance alone, without transitioning, can sufficiently address the distress and disconnect associated with gender dysphoria, assuming my experience is fairly typical.
For me, I can’t even reliably identify what thoughts are negative anymore, take my thoughts around the relief I had after sex for example - they seemed hopeful, and therefore positive - a lead to follow, but now I’m learning that they’re misguided and destructive.
I’m here for exploring alternative strategies that would both preserve my marriage and allow me to grow in self acceptance, but I’ve arrived at the same realization from multiple angles that there is just no substitute to taking real steps to align oneself with ones gender – in my experience its appears to be predetermined, or at least, not driven by choice or logic.
I’m interested in hearing insights anecdotal or otherwise, of evidence of individuals successfully utilizing mindfulness training or self-acceptance as an alternative to transitioning.

Hi, I’m a Pacific crest Trail northbound thru hiker and will arrive in Kennedy Meadows in about one week. The Sierras are not an option for me right now. I see that lots of people are flipping up to Chester or old station. My question is: what are the advantages and disadvantages of starting at the Canadian border in about 3 to 4 weeks? I think to myself that Washington, which has an average snowpack, would be the best state to start with, coming down to Oregon with about 200% snow pack and finishing with the Sierras with the most snow to be hiking on the least snow possible this year. Am I missing something out?

I found temporary relief from all dysphoria after climaxing, sometimes lasting hours, and this lead me to convince myself that there were perhaps alternative motivations at play or at least hope of alternative ways to disprove or overcome dysphoria. However, after a lot of internalizing and journaling, it occurred to me that it’s actually more likely that the medical professionals are correct in their diagnosis. And my gender, and feelings towards, is probably completely beyond my control. And importantly, that these moments of relief are fleeting, meaningless, and arguably counterproductive as they result in false narratives, so I'm now learning to challenge the thoughts associated with experiencing sudden relief. That flip has been a big step for me, considering I used to spend my mental energy to challenge the dysphoric and euphoric feelings.
Until recently, I've viewed medical transition as being in direct competition with my values. I've really struggled with the notion that my "selfish wants / desires", are somehow getting the better of me, causing me to constantly think about about transitioning.
But I'm finding that I keep arriving at the same conclusion: I am a woman. I am a woman despite my doubts. I am a woman despite my fears. I can't change it. I can't control it, nor can my ambitions, my past achievements, my family. I simply am. I'm not broken. It's not going to "go away". It's not going to change. I might have reached out to the medical staff first, but I'm the last to the party. I need to learn to accept it. Embrace it. And this realization has provided me with a profound sense of clarity amidst the confusion and doubts, as it seems to provide an elegant answer to all of the seemingly irrational and selfish prospects transitioning has, in a way that suppression and ignoring couldn't ever do.
However this newfound clarity has also made me acutely aware of it’s implications. Though it pains me to say (there are some major potential relationship implications here), I have to face the very real possibility that the only viable way forward to live authentically is through medical transitioning, encompassing hormone therapy and potentially surgical interventions. However, despite this understanding, I find myself lacking the inner strength and conviction to make the decision to transition of my own accord.
As indicated earlier, my hesitations and fears of transitioning are largely intertwined with the concern for my marriage, as I fear that fully embracing my true self through transitioning might jeopardize the relationship with my spouse, whom I love deeply.
I don’t know what I expected from medical staff when I received my diagnosis, but I had to call my GP and struggle to get an appointment and request a GAHT consultation just to ask some questions around medical transition. I ended up pulling out during my second appointment for a variety of reasons, chief among them, was that it very much felt like it was my choice to start on hormones, if I want to. I didn’t chose any of this, nor do I want to "choose" to prescribe myself hormones knowing it can really mess things up for me.
I, like most people, respect and carry out medical directives given by medical professionals. And since they had established persistent dysphoria and they had my psychologist report, since they knew how easy I find it to discount my feelings, and surpress, I really feel it would have been more appropriate for them to firmly prescribe me with the most effective known treatment, GAHT, akin to how they have prescribed literally any other prescription for every other ailment I have had, and of course it would be a personal (though not recommended) choice NOT to take the hormones, as it is with any treatment. Rather than frame it as an option I could "chose".
But IANAD, and so I struggle with the prospect of actively “choosing” a treatment that may have significant consequences for my personal life. And as a result, I walked.
I’m at a loss with all this. I’ve been contemplating the role of mindfulness training and self-acceptance in alleviating gender dysphoria. One of the gender affirming care avenues outlined in my psych report suggests that mindfulness training can help disregard negative thoughts and promote self-acceptance. But I’m curious about the actual evidence supporting the effectiveness of mindfulness training in managing gender dysphoria. Are there any studies or research that demonstrate its impact on alleviating gender dysphoria or promoting well-being in individuals who choose not to transition medically?
I consider myself to be of average intelligence, and problem solving ability, and thus most of my thinking needs some degree of contemplating, validating and meditation. I find it challenging to comprehend how mindfulness and self-acceptance alone, without transitioning, can sufficiently address the distress and disconnect associated with gender dysphoria, assuming my experience is fairly typical.
For me, I can’t even reliably identify what thoughts are negative anymore, take my thoughts around the relief I had after sex for example - they seemed hopeful, and therefore positive - a lead to follow, but now I’m learning that they’re misguided and destructive.
I’m here for exploring alternative strategies that would both preserve my marriage and allow me to grow in self acceptance, but I’ve arrived at the same realization from multiple angles that there is just no substitute to taking real steps to align oneself with ones gender – in my experience its appears to be predetermined, or at least, not driven by choice or logic.
I’m interested in hearing insights anecdotal or otherwise, of evidence of individuals successfully utilizing mindfulness training or self-acceptance as an alternative to transitioning.

So basically, my dad died back in 2019. From lung cancer. I was 10 at the time, and I already knew he was gonna. You know. And after he died. I couldn't really believe it? but the grief didn't click in, until September / November, of 2019. But then at the time, I started going through really stressful, things like, bullying. Name-calling. Harassment. (These had happened online. I know it may not seem like such a big deal but it ruined my self-confidence, and mental health.) And it got worse in 2020, because I got abused online as well And my mental health, got worse to the point where I had urges to kill / harm myself, (I hardly have them anymore, which I'm glad about. Family issues. Stressed Almost constant crying

December, 8th, 2020, was the time I got sick.
It was in my stomach, and I though "oh I'm just sick it will pass", but it just got worse. And it would keep, growling, and I lost my appetite fully and didn't even wanna eat. But the thing I realised was that I was stressed / worried about it. Because I though it was stomach cancer. (Still do.) And it would make me feel like I was gonna throw up,
And in 2021. I still had. It. No appetite still, no nothing. Just feeling sick. But I still ate, and drank everyday. But online stuff happened again. (Which I think made it worse? I don't know. And my mental health worse.) But then I started thinking my stomach was gonna collapse. And I started worrying more about it.
And in this year, same stuff. With my stomach. But in April 2022. I had a panic attack? I also had left arm aches / pains. So basically went downstairs, and told my mum about it. And we started talking, about stuff. And i stood up from the chair, and then all sudden, my head started feeling SUPER weird. And I said "mum my head feels weird!" And she said "your probably having a panic attack." And then i started panicking, and said "mum, mum I think I'm dying!!" And I went down on to the kitchen floor.and my brother said "your fine." And my mum said "this is because of your dad." And then she went to open the door for me to get air. And I still felt weird. And my hands were shaking. (I can't remember but I think my mouth /lips was dry.) But the thing is I felt like I was forcing the shaking. Because I was making myself shake (but again I probably wasn't. I did not do it for attention, I know that would of been bad. etc I was seriously scared, that I was gonna die in front of my mum and brother.) . But when I stopped my body felt like nothing. And my breathing was a bit weird a swell. And my mum was trying to talk me out of it. And then a few minutes later, I went to stand up, and go upstairs, but my whole body, and legs felt weird. Very weird. But then I felt the whole night, watching tiktok to distract myself. But then next day, my mum told my older brother that I was having panic attacks. That same day, I felt like I was freak, out and call an ambulance, because I felt like I was going to die. And I was worrying about my health. (Still do.)
and i am also getting forgetfulness. feeling like something is in my throat for a few minutes, and feeling sweaty,(doesn't last long.) when i panic over something. stuttering, headaches. weird head feelings, and weird feeling slightly under my stomach by my hips. dry, mouth / lips sometimes, and feeling like i will gag? on my foods / drinks now.
And my symptoms kept changing.
And now this year, my symptoms have pretty much changed like they have been.

But the weird feelings do go away, but they come back after a few hours, or minutes, I know I need therapy, and help but the waiting lists. I'm trying to learn to cope with it. Because I know it won't go away just by ignoring it, and I know as much as I'm worried for my health know I been through a lot of stress, etc and now I been going puberty for a couple years.Anxiety feels like a nightmare, and I hate it. And I also have a white patch on my tongue it kinds looks like milk? And sometimes I feel a very weird weird feeling that something will happen? And most times I breathe I feel something in my throat lime its my heart beat? Or if my heart skips a beat or something when I breathe sometimes?
But also a good thing is, is that I can drink and eat fine, and I'm not in any bad pains at all, I just physically feel weird, and I can't explain the feelings. But when I sleep, I wake up In the middle of the night for no reason, so that might be from stress.
Does anybody else experience or know what I mean? I don't know why I keep worrying about my health I constantly seek reassurance and it kinda makes me feel a attention seeker.but i also have this weird cold feeling at my back (the cold feeling you get when you're sick?) but i have it at my back, and i don't have a lot of symptoms of anxiety and it's scaring me. are people different with anxiety and stress? do they have different things with it? because i know everybody is different but i'm still scared.

The things that are respected, not respected, admired and frowned upon. However, I feel there is a higher rate of entitlement in today's day and age than in the past. I understand that we all have a past and made mistakes but it is people's prerogative to forgive you or dismiss your past. Especially if we are talking about things one did despite knowing the societal repercussions. I know that sometimes life pushes us one way or the other and we do what we can to come up on top but it does not change the outlook on things in society. You made on ônly Friends, got big, your pics went everywhere, regretted it, deleted it, your pictures are everywhere and you are struggling to find men who overlook it? You knew what you were getting into before doing so. Whoever chooses to overlook it, good. If they choose not to? Their prerogative. You were a drug dealer who had to be in that life because of numerous factors outside of your control, got arrested numerous times, now have a criminal record, left the industry and now can't get a job? It really does suck and I hope you come up on top but society is how it is and it is people's prerogative to give you a job or not. You are single and have several kids by several men or women, which has shrunk your dating pool? It sucks, it really does but it is their prerogative to choose not to deal with you.I see an overload of content online full of people crying in entitlement because they are in a predicament and reaping what it entails to be there. This was 3 years ago. To this day, she still has not been able to white collar job. You type her name and surname online and pictures pop.She struggles to date, no one around us wants to take her seriously and she got super depressed. She blames society, I guess you can blame society. But guess what, society was like this before you made that decision, you had friends telling you against it to protect you and when the inevitable happened, you wanted to backtrack. The internet is forever. I am genuinely not against most things, call it a certain type of content creation... you do you. However, if the inevitable happens ladies and gents, do not cry. You were a grown individual to make a decision, be the same grown individual to deal with the repercussions. We can scream as much as we want that a certain type of work is real work, that c people deserve second chances in whatever but I believe that it is the worst advice you can give to people you care about. This is not a Utopia, people judge, discriminate, and insult, it can be a nasty place. The last thing you want is to make it easy for society to cross you and turn your life into a living hell. Take responsibility. Own your choices.

In January after doing my taxes I decided to perform a self-audit on my emergency savings. After some big purchases over the last couple of years my saving had dipped down to 2 month’s salary and had been stagnant at that amount for a while. I decided to set a goal to get my emergency savings up to 6 month’s salary (I have never gotten my savings higher than 3 month’s salary before), and I decided to make this goal my top priority. Doing the math on how long that would take me was kind of eye opening. Based on my current monthly contributions to my savings account, it was going to take just over 3 years to reach my goal. A lot can happen in 3 years, I decided I need to change some things around to meet my goal quicker than that. I lowered my 401k contributions to only take advantage of my company’s matching levels, I stopped putting money into my IRA, and I stopped putting money into my personal investing account. Also I am limiting non-essential purchases (within reason). This resulted in me being able to hit my savings goal in about 18 months as long as I can stick to my current plan. That time frame seems reasonable and achievable to me so I started to get to work.
I created a spreadsheet to track/visualize my savings info so I know exactly where I stand, and exactly how far I am from my goal. So far this year I am averaging about 1/4th of my monthly salary is going into my savings account (higher contributions than I originally mapped out!). In March I realized I could put the money into my Fidelity account, and switch the core position to their Money Market option to earn interest (and start tracking that). This month I realized I could use CDs to help increase growth too (gets me about 1% more than the Money Market position), and I created a separate tab on my spreadsheet to track those purchases and payouts. I am going to keep at least 2 month's salary as “cash” so it’s readily available, but will also continue buying a CD on a monthly basis to help things grow. Right now I just crested past 50% of my total goal, and I had a set reward for myself one I got to this point so I am very happy about that.
Now, the reason for the post: I am rather new to taking finances more seriously, and am far from an investing expert. I think I would say I am competent at not losing money, but probably incompetent when it comes to maximizing “safe and reliable” returns. Disclaimer, I know nothing is truly “safe and reliable” but figured the money market core position and CDs are within my risk tolerance. So for my savings goal and strategy, what are your thoughts? Is my plan okay? Are there other “safe and reliable” options I should be exploring? FYI, I originally typed this up with the real dollar values instead of “monthly salary” values so if the math doesn’t add up I messed up the conversions.

Hello everyone, I’m a 26m that has been looking at starting Muay Thai or boxing for overall fitness, mental health, confidence, etc. I spent much of my adult life in the military and have been looking for an outlet now that I’ve been retired. I’ve leaned towards Muay Thai but am considering something without striking instead due to concerns with my brain. I suffer from chronic migraines daily although I’ve been finding ways to mitigate them as much as I can. I also have fibromyalgia and I’ve read that being involved in something active like martial arts is beneficial for pain management and a mental relief. I’ve had an MRI done on my brain and there is damage caused by the migraines. I do fear possibly getting CTE from sparring as I may be at a higher risk due to having damage already. - There are several scattered punctate foci of nonenhancing T2 FLAIR hyperintensity involving the bifrontal and left parietal subcortical and deep white matter. There are no lesions involving the corpus callosum, periventricular white matter, or callosal septal interface. There are no lesions involving the temporal white matter. No abnormal susceptibility artifact.
- Incidental note of a developmental venous anomaly in the left deep parietal lobe.
- Orbits are normal. There is a small amount of mucosal thickening in the frontal, ethmoid, and maxillary sinuses with a right-sided maxillary sinus mucus retention cyst.
- No acute intracranial abnormality.
- There are several punctate, nonenhancing foci of T2 FLAIR hyperintensity predominantly in the bifrontal subcortical and deep white matter. These are greater than expected for age and nonspecific. These can be seen in the setting of migraine headaches or could represent sequelae of chronic small vessel ischemia or other nonspecific prior inflammatory/inflammatory process. While demyelinating disease remains possible, it is considered less likely given the distribution of the lesions and lack of involvement of the corpus callosum, callosal-septal interface, and periventricular white matter.
