2023.05.29 17:48 HIYgamer How do you handle reactions to an age gap?

One month ago today, I started dating someone for the first time. I'm 26 and she's 38. I love her. She makes me feel unlike anyone I've ever met. She's been incredibly kind, and has been very careful to avoid pressuring me into anything, especially when it's come to me figuring out my sexuality. When I met her, I thought I was asexual, but since then I've begun questioning things. She has been extremely patient as I have repeatedly demonstrated my complete and utter ignorance of anything to do with relationships or sexuality. I don't really think about the age gap between us much. To me, she's just my girlfriend. We make each other really happy and I love the time we spend together. That's the important part as far as I'm concerned. We met online, so right now we're long distance, but we've been talking about getting me a plane ticket so that I can go visit her. I'm really excited to see her in person, but I have a lot of social anxiety and I'll admit that I do worry sometimes about how I'll handle other people's reactions to us being a couple. I've always looked really young for my age, so the age gap looks bigger than it is, and I worry about that making people react really negatively to our relationship. If you've been in a relationship with an age gap like this, how have you dealt other people's reactions?

2023.05.29 17:48 clevercancer Dating multiple people??

Hi! New here, I'm just so confused on dating multiple people. Im dating 4 people right now but I only want to marry Sebastian, but I want to get to 10 hearts with everyone else and the only way (to my knowledge at least) to do that is to date them to unlock the last two hearts. Does dating multiple people cause anything bad? I haven't been able to find a straight up answer anywhere and I wondered if anyone here has done this before and could help me out. I dont want any of the people to hate me lolll. Thanks!!!

2023.05.29 17:47 SubstantialAd7438 Pursuing a Master's Degree After BA in Economics - Need Advice

Hello fellow Redditors,

I recently completed my Bachelor's degree in Economics and I'm currently at a crossroads regarding the next step in my academic journey. I'm considering pursuing a Master's degree, but I'm having difficulty deciding on the specific field I want to delve into.

During my undergraduate studies, I developed a strong understanding of both macro and microeconomics, economic policy, and data analysis, among other areas. I thoroughly enjoyed my coursework and I'm eager to further build upon this foundation.

While I am leaning towards further study in Economics, I've also considered related fields like Finance, Public Policy, or Data Science. I think each offers unique opportunities and could align with my economics background in different ways.

For those of you who have gone through a similar decision-making process, could you share your experiences? Here are a few questions on my mind:

What factors did you consider when choosing your Master's program?
How did the choice of your Master's degree impact your career opportunities?
If you studied Economics and then branched out into a different field for your Master's, why did you choose to do so, and how has it benefited you?
I'd love to hear from anyone who can offer insight or advice. Thanks in advance!

2023.05.29 17:47 Shoddy-Mission2037 CMP / shoddy apartment wiring

Here’s a scenario…anyone been through something similar?
Moved into an apartment 1.5 years ago. It is a three story building with three apartments - essentially each floor is a unit.
Connected power in my name with CMP upon move in and didn’t see any anomalies for a few months. That changed and noticed sizable gains and decreases in usage over the next year.
One of the big winter storms finally led to a day long outage, so I reached out to other tenants to see if they had any news from CMP on our ETA for restoration. Found out that one neighbor doesn’t have an account with CMP, and he stated that his electricity was included with rent.
The other tenant had an account. Upon looking around, we discovered two power meters for the building. One was for his account, and one for mine.
Questions were asked of the landlord, and they skirted the issue until stating that they forgot about this, and admitted that the third floor might get power from another unit.
The other tenant paying CMP moved out. He mentioned he was contemplating legal action, but backed off when the landlord offered a free month in rent.
Fast forward to now. New tenant has moved in, is paying CMP and it appears the landlord has again forgotten about this issue. My power usage plummeted now that winter is over, making me wonder if another apartment had been running a space heater on my dime.
A breaker test shows that my account powers lighting and outlets in common areas, but it remains unknown just how much usage has occurred outside of my apartment.
CMP has become involved.
So, has anyone been in a situation comparable to this? Is this a small claims kind of case, or is it worth hiring an attorney?

2023.05.29 17:46 Jensolver [REQUEST] [STEAM] Hogwarts Legacy 🪄

Hello everyone. I am writing to you all with a plea from the depths of my heart, an earnest and emotional plea for your understanding and support. I am captivated by a dream, a dream that has the power to transport me to a world where magic intertwines with reality. This dream is none other than the irresistible allure of Hogwarts Legacy.
Words cannot adequately express the intense longing that has taken hold of me, tugging at my very core, compelling me to seek the enchantment and wonder encapsulated within this remarkable game. From the moment I first caught a glimpse of its mesmerizing trailer, my spirit soared, and I became entranced by the infinite possibilities that await within the hallowed halls of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Imagine, if you will, a world where spells are woven with the flick of a wand, where mythical creatures roam the vast Forbidden Forest, and where the mysteries of ancient magic unveil themselves to those who are bold enough to seek them. Hogwarts Legacy promises an immersive experience that transcends mere entertainment, offering an opportunity to immerse oneself in a rich narrative brimming with adventure, friendship, and personal growth.
As an avid reader of J.K. Rowling's beloved Harry Potter series, Hogwarts has always held a special place in my heart. It is a symbol of hope, resilience, and the triumph of good over evil. With Hogwarts Legacy, I yearn to step through the majestic gates of the castle, to wander its winding corridors, and to be a part of the magical tapestry that has captivated millions around the world.
This game represents more than just a source of entertainment; it holds the potential to ignite my imagination, to transport me to a realm where dreams come true, and to evoke a sense of childlike wonder that is often elusive in the mundane reality of everyday life. It is an opportunity to create cherished memories, to embark on unforgettable quests, and to forge friendships with virtual characters who feel as real and endearing as any in the realm of fiction.
Furthermore, Hogwarts Legacy offers a chance to explore the complexities of moral choices, to navigate the blurred lines between right and wrong, and to contemplate the power and responsibility that come with wielding magic. It serves as a reminder that our actions shape our destiny, and that the choices we make, even in a virtual world, carry weight and consequences.
I understand that Hogwarts Legacy is not merely a game; it is an investment, both in terms of financial resources and time. But I assure you all, that my desire to embark on this magical journey extends far beyond the realm of fleeting entertainment. I envision it as an opportunity for personal growth, for embracing the values of bravery, loyalty, and compassion that the Harry Potter series has instilled in me.
In conclusion, I humbly implore you to consider my heartfelt plea to experience the wonders of Hogwarts Legacy. I yearn to delve into its immersive world, to embrace the joys and challenges it presents, and to embark on a journey that will leave an indelible mark on my soul. 2023.05.29 17:46 Researcher_1999 The "white Bronco" - was this actually Eric Jackson's Blazer?

A lot of people wonder why police asked people if they knew anyone who drove a white Bronco. The reason has been lost to time, it seems. But, here is the background.
Early on, someone saw a white Bronco follow an ambulance out of the school's parking lot and told police they thought the Bronco was full of weapons in the back. The ambulance was headed to Swedish Medical, so they stationed armed guards outside of the hospital near the ambulance bay just in case.
The reason someone thought the Bronco had weapons in the back isn't entirely clear, but it was probably because a TCM associated with the first name of Eric (LNU) was known to drive a white Bronco. When Chris Morris didn't have a car, he regularly drove him to bowling and he also was the guy who usually drove the TCM around when they hung out.
Patrick McDuffee lists this person as someone who helped transport weapons for the shooting, but later acknowledges this was just a feeling and not based on fact. He probably heard the rumor and knew who drove the Bronco.
It wasn't Eric Dutro, he drove a '93 blue Ford Tempo and he had a warrant out for his arrest and was hiding out at his girlfriend's house in Arvada, so I doubt he would have gone there that day. I don't know about Eric Ault, though, he was expelled in January 1998.
Eric Jackson drove a white Blazer with blue trim. It's very possible that people confused the model of his car. Blazer, Bronco, in the 90s they looked similar.
It seems like whoever saw that car follow the ambulance out knew Jackson's association with the TCM and assumed the worst and reported their concerns to police. They just had the wrong model.

2023.05.29 17:46 ethereumhodler Putting down a unpredictable aggressive dog

I am torn apart right now. I rescued this Husky male 6 and a half yrs ago (vet thought he was probably 2.5-3 yrs old when I got him) Traumatized dog he probably went through hell in his first few yrs. He has a really short fuse, doesn’t give any signal just bites in certain circumstances. Most of the time he is a likeable dog but you always walk on egg shell around him.
In the last yr he bit like 10 people in triggering situations, all but one happened at my house. (5 bleeding wounds) including myself twice in the last 6 months, and probably bit me 7-8 times since I have him. Yesterday he bit me pretty viciously, like 3 times. Needed stitches and on antibiotics now. Everyone around me is telling me that I should probably put him down. He is also aggressive with other dogs sometimes (depending on the dog) Nd that’s also an issue.
I know it is just a matter of time before he strikes again. I just discovered last week he has a really bad infected tooth that needs to be extracted (that as definitely an effect on his aggressiveness) also age probably play a role as he probably gets less tolerant. I did my best. He lives free on 66acres, well fed, loved. I just have a really hard time to play “god” and take the decision to end his life. I am not sure if this feeling is more about being selfish and not wanting the burden of the one to have to live with the decision. This morning he came and put his head in my hands for cuddles and pets when I was sitting on the couch and I just started crying, Im feeling very emotional as I am writing this. Could I have handled him bettedifferently? I could decide to keep him, never invite anyone to my home, just let him be and don’t interact with him in certain situations. But that will but strain on my life and ability to do things and travel (the people that usually dogsit him are becoming more reluctant to do so) not sure what trainer could do since it is out of the blue stuff and most of the time he is a good boy.
I don’t know what I am looking for writing here I just need to vent.

2023.05.29 17:46 byecocoa best way to get a nursing "Internship" in the US?

hey you lovely redditors! I'm not quite sure if the title is a little misleading, but I'm looking for ways to get a first impression of working as a nurse in the US. I'm a fully trained nurse (in Germany) and am currently working at a surgical ICU and also at a maternity ward. In the long run I want to move abroad, so I'm looking for options. Before I want to move anywhere I want to see (or get an impression) how the medical system works, what are the tasks and responsibilities of a nurse in that country. So know I want to figure out if it is even possible to "test work" or how. I was thinking maybe a 2-3 weeks internship would be the best option to at least get the idea of working there. Anyone has any suggestions on what options would be best or how to approach the whole thing in general? Or anyone here who can hook me up with a contact? (thinking about the west coast, like San Francisco or so!?) Every suggestion is welcome :) Thank you in advance! 💜

2023.05.29 17:45 OldSchoolIsh High Unfilled Rate since 1st April on AdManager, Help!?

I've been running AdManager on my site for a few years now, it almost exclusively traffics backfilled AdSense ads, I use AdManager primarily for the granularity of control and reporting and the option to move to Ezoic etc. at some point.
Anyway that was all ticking along fine and I had other business things to deal with, when seemingly out of nowhere on, or around 1st April this year my unfilled ad rate shot up. It has never recovered from that.
Here is the graph for the last month
https://preview.redd.it/hnx3vkjz0u2b1.png?width=997&format=png&auto=webp&s=408f2dc6e4f0e77c2ebbb2321345b3855617dc7c
I've double checked my ad code, and when when I run their diagnostics tools all the ads load fine, top marks all round.
Anyone else experienced this and any thoughts on what more I can look at to investigate further? It isn't a whole lot of money, but the missing revenue sure helped offset my hosting costs, which was a nice benefit.

2023.05.29 17:45 Darmanarya Hunting pack chapter 4

((Work was so slow today I wrote this all on my phone. Will be adding the chapter change buttons later as a result. Hope you all enjoy this! Also: credit, as always and as deserved, goes to u/SpacePaladin15 for the good universe of "Nature of Predators" and community! Also shoutout to "Nature of Giants" creator u/Acceptable_Egg5560 for giving me a good example to use as a cameo!))
Memory transcript subject: Krakotl exterminator team leader Taita
Date [standardized human time]: October 20, 2136
I am an exterminator.
I am told I am one of the best.
My office has plenty of awards that were given to me.
I have done jobs many thought impossible.
But above all I am professional.
I must look at every case with as little emotion as possible to ensure that I can protect the most people possible. Heat should come from my flamer, not my heart or head. I must not let mindless beliefs and superstition rule me unlike those brAHKING IDIOTS IN DAWN CREEK WHO JUMP AT ANYT-
Breathe in.
Hold.
Breathe out.
I am an exterminator.
I must be professional.
The attempted purge of the human world was, to me, all wrong. The humans have shown very few predatory behaviors and are far more advanced than the Yotul were. Some records indicate that a significant portion of their population was even becoming plant only by choice pre-contact. Not only that but the exterminator fleet carried out their duties with a zeal that was unfitting for exterminators. They abandoned those in need to pursue a kill. That is predatory and is against what we swore to purge.
I should be angry at the humans. They led the Arxur to attack us, but at the same time I must acknowledge if a parent leaves their child alone near predators then the parent would be detained for such a horrible act. How was the fleet's behavior any different?
I stared at the chat program in front of me.
Venlil male. Skip
Yotul female. Skip
Krakotl male. Skip
I needed to learn more about humans. I had to. I always tried my hardest to learn and study the predators I purged to make sure I could be as efficient as possible. It was my research that discovered the Bahrulet were just prey that had a spike in predator disease in males every cycle rather than them being predators. It was me that figured out it was a koloshian tsking apart yotul rather than a predator with a taste for the species.
And here it was. A chance i could find a predator I could talk to. A predator I could ask questions about. As an exterminator team lead I managed to pull some strings and get my copy of the chat program decensored a good bit so I could ask questions.
Professional ones.
No stupid ones like "Are you going to eat me?" Or anything of the sort. I didn't believe the theories that humans were mind controlling the Venlil or that they were faking. On such a scale it would be impossible! Besides, as skittish as the Venlil were I doubt one of their brains could stay conscious long enough to be brainwashed if a human tried it. Besides. I watched the videos from the cradle. I would trade all my feathers for just ONE exterminator as tough and devoted as those humans were. You can't fake that kind of passion when protecting something from a predator.
I wanted to know how their kind hunted in the past. Why? Why was I going to ask such a predatory question? If I knew then perhaps our purges could go smoother. Identify where a predator could strike, what they looked for, how to better kill to make sure none got away.
Professional. Questions.
But… I also just felt wrong about what happened on Earth. I wanted to find out for myself if such an extreme purge was really justified. I mean, I know it probably wasn't, but I needed to learn more before I made up my mind.
Venlil female. Skip
Krokotl male. Looking for female. Skip and block
Koloshian. Skip
Venlil male. Skip
Dossur female. Skip
I breathed out. I was told there would be humans on this app now! Sure, most humans would probably not be too interested after… that. And most were probably skipping me because I was a krakotl female. My kind did just purge a large number of theirs. B-
Human male.
Oh. He didn't skip me? "54rhuman?" Rather basic username, but their names are probably highly restricted. My talon hovered over "accept." Did I really want to do this? Yes. I had to.
Click.
Firedird: Are you really a human?
54rhuman: yup! Was rejected from the first batch of exchange due to my interests and diet. Picked up this app since I HAD to meet some aliens.
Firebird: What is your job?
54rhuman: I work IT. Can't say much beyond that. Fairly boring. U?
I froze. My username was a hint, but maybe the human just thought I was being "cool." Should I lie? No. Professionalism. If I wanted him to tell me the truth I had to tell the truth.
Firebird: dont leave please. Exterminator team lead.
There was a long pause, but he didn't leave.
Firebird: still there?
54rhuman: yup! Just has to sneak a few pictures of my guest. He is sleeping hard next to me. Cool! Always wanted to talk to an exterminator.
What?
Firebird:what? Even after what we did?
54rhuman: hey. It was one group of exterminators, and a krakotl, but fuck it. Not everyone in a group is the same. Besides! You are the feds version of the police! Cant all be bad.
I read the reply. Then again. Then again.
What we did was wrong.
54rhuman: besides. I feel horrible for your kind about the arxur. I know it saved us, but it still feels wrong.
There was the empathy that the reports I read outlined.
The fleet was wrong.
Firebird: I… ok. Do you mind if I ask questions? They might be a bit sensitive, but I always wanted to ask a predator questions.
54rhuman: not all humans are really predators, so be careful with that name, but gotta admit it fits me some. Ask away!
What to ask first? Speh. Lets just go for the simple one.
Firebird: do humans have something like exterminators?
54r human: yup! Multiple different groups actually with one actually called the same thing. We have a bunch of animals on earth. Some just cause lots of problems like eating our food or spreading disease while some kill us.
Oh what the BRAHKT would hunt a human!? A predator predator was a thought I did not want to think about. Professionalism be damned!
54rhuman: I am actually in one of the groups as a side job and hobby. It is what got me rejected from the first exchange batch. We don't use fire though. We find that cruel.
Cruel? I tilted my head as my feathers ruffled out. I had to know why this human thought our methods were cruel!
Firebird: How is it cruel? It kills the predator and ensures there is nothing left to cause issues. No decaying body, no spread of predator, no drawing in other predators, and more.
54rhuman: Humans find it to be far too long and painful of a death. While some humans do believe in destroying truly horrific things with fire, its often seen as the most extreme method. Huh. Thought this would get censored.
Firebird: I am an exterminator team leader. Chatting with me has reduced censorship due to what I know.
54rhuman: Fair. We just try to use things like guns and other devices to make sure the death is quick and painless and as clean as possible. We dont like being cruel by causing lots of pain.
If that was true some exterminators had more predator disease than this human!
54rhuman: ah shit my guest is waking up! Bet they are hungry so need to get them something to eat. They look so cute asleep as well, wanna hug em'! Friending so we can talk later! Bye!
Chat partner disconnected.
54rhuman wants to be friends! Accept? Yes! Ignore.
I just… sat there staring at the screen. The human was nice and every bit lined up with what I heard. He replied quicker than I did so it wasn't like he had time to come up with a lie either. My claw tapped "accept." My eyes looked up to the poster of "The Exterminators" hanging on my wall. It was signed by the whole cast as a thank you for some of my cases inspiring a couple of their episodes.
The purge order was wrong. It had to be! Fully based on nothing but fear, superstition, and probably even predator disease!
Unprofessional.

2023.05.29 17:44 SariayaPaige 35 [F4F] women/couples into trans women. Needing to find my people ❤️ 💕

I have been having a really hard time finding women I vibe with. I feel there is nobody who is into trans women physically and I am losing hope.
I am loving, confident, fun, silly, outgoing, caring, compassionate and I will do anything I can to please my partner. I am a caregiver by choice in my career - registered nurse. I love to care for others and I love opening up and offering myself to others wants and needs.
I am open to anyone 20+ as long as we can vibe. I feel like I often have a younger attitude as I am trying to relive my college days in a way I am sad I missed out on. About me: I am a registered nurse in an emergency room, my hobbies and interests include fashion, video games, shopping, traveling domestic and international, I love cuddling, Netflix/entertainment in general, and fantasizing about how amazing life would be if I were more beautiful. I have 3 sisters and come from a pretty conservative family. I can’t stand Donald Trump and no I don’t need any negative messages about why. If you are a Trumper please refrain from messaging me (I doubt there’s many here anyways). I tend to have sexual desires, fantasies, and just daydream about dates and things I wish could happen. I can also totally refrain from this is if this is nothing you’re interested in but I wouldn’t mind having a BFF 👯‍♀️ to share experiences and secrets with. I think a relationship is best started as a friendship then grows, so let’s just chat and see where things go.
I love pets but don’t have any of my own, taking care of myself is a big enough responsibility 😆. I have plenty of other interests and would love to make friends or more seeing if it goes that way. If you want to be friends or just think I’m cute let’s chat 😘 (pics in my profile).

2023.05.29 17:43 18148WellingtonLan3 Refund for Non-Delivery

My husband and I ordered Thai on Ubereats yesterday. We were waiting in our flat for the order to be delivered (it was for lunch and dinner ~ 80 GBP). My phone was on silent and I saw missed calls from an unknown number, so I called back 2 mins after the last missed call. I called back 10 times and had no answer. I contacted UberEats as well because on the app it stated that my order was delivered. I decided to call the number again, and the driver answers. He proceeded to yelling at me very aggressively saying that I did not indicate the house number anf that he had waited and called me ten times (lies). We have deliveries everyday and never had a problem. As I was on the phone with him, I double checked the app and it fully states my house number and instructions to come up the stairs. Then he said, "I have your food but I dont want to eat your food!" He proceeded to asking me for cash if I wanted the food to be delivered to my house again (the food in which Uber has already charged me for). "This is extortion or a scam", I told him that this was not right, hung up and proceeded to call UberEats. After spending almost an hour with UberEats on the phone, I was told that a special team will contact me with regards to the refund. It has been a day and a half now, and I have not been able to get to a human representative nor have I been able to get a refund for food that was not delivered. The whole experience just triggered something in me.. I feel scammed and just sad that we were robbed and taken advantage so easily without any help or assistance from UberEats. Does anyone here have any advice on what to do?

2023.05.29 17:43 The_HatedOne Daniel Micay steps down as the leader of GrapheneOS. My thoughts and why you should keep using it.

Daniel Micay, the founder and long-time lead developer of GrapheneOS, has recently stepped down from the position of lead developer and will also be stepping down as a director of the GrapheneOS foundation. These announcements coincided with a video made by Louis Rossman where he suggested he would be leaving GrapheneOS due to Daniel Micay's communication issues.
There are important takeaways that a lot of people are missing and some very damaging and outright manipulative 'privacy advice' that stemming from this situation that needs to be called out. So here we go.

Daniel Micay stepping down is a good thing

I think this is very positive news both for Micay and the GrapheneOS project. Daniel Micay's security expertise and mobile engineering skills have been unmatched. In this regard, he is truly a world-class expert that was able to deliver the most secure operating system in the world and build up a team of talented developers that followed his vision. He did this from scratch, without the help from big investors or even big salaries. GrapheneOS has been funded by voluntary donations and it is that much more amazing that it became such a polished and easy-to-use product.
GrapheneOS today is full team of security experts and developers working to enhance privacy and security of everyone at zero cost to the end user. GrapheneOS is now a properly institutionalized entity. Having incorporated as a non-profit foundation, it's now broadly recognized not just in the infosec and privacy communities, but also in the broader technology sphere. It has received an endless amount of publicity and media attention and will be receiving even more in the future. This will be good both for talent acquisition and future fundraising campaigns. Daniel Micay deserves praise for his achievements in this regard and I will be grateful for delivering us the most important privacy project of my lifetime.
That being said, Daniel has been struggling with public communication and often ended up in up stirred up drama much of which probably could have been avoided if it was handled by a professional PR team, instead of Micay. There has been countless of examples of this and while it did highlight the negative aspects of toxicity in privacy communities, it also didn't serve to portray Micay as the best communicator either. I think it is positive news both for Micay and the GrapheneOS project that he is stepping down and will no longer play a role in public relations of the project. I hope Micay will find the recovery he is looking for and I wish the GrapheneOS project all the success it 100% deserves.

The Rossmann drama and why you should still use GrapheneOS

Louis Rossmann, a popular YouTube and a vocal advocate for the right to repair, has made several videos praising and recommending GrapheneOS. In his most recent video, however, Daniel Micay is seen pressuring Rossmann into deleting a comment he left underneath one of Techlore's videos on Daniel Micay and the GrapheneOS community. In no honest interpretation can someone argue that Rossmann would want to bully or harass Micay, yet that was Micay's insinuation in his pressure on Rossman. Many have jumped to making conclusions on Micay's mental health and the validity of the GrapheneOS project as a whole and this is where I think Rossmann overstepped in his logic. In Rossmann's conclusion, he lost trust in GrapheneOS if it is run by Micay because of his behavior. I understand why someone would make that assumption on the emotional level but it is completely illogical and removed from what's possible in reality.
GrapheneOS or anyone working on the project, cannot hijack your installation. They don't have access to the kind of data they'd need in order to discern individual users. GrapheneOS doesn't collect device identifiers, IMSI numbers or phone numbers. GrapheneOS doesn't require any user account like you'd need with the stock Android or the iPhone/iOS. The only relevant information collected by GrapheneOS is the IP address, which can be easily obfuscated with a VPN or Tor, both of which work 100% and have no issues connecting to GrapheneOS servers. GrapheneOS purges all IP logs within 10 days. The only other data point is the device model, .e.g. "Pixel 6". But that isn't narrow enough to discern individual users. In other words, GrapheneOS would never know who you are as a user of the system.
I am saying this, because a lot of people for so many years have tried to try to discredit GrapheneOS both as a project and as a product because of issues they have with Micay or other personalities. This is a completely illogical and asinine assumption. It has been made by Techlore, Rossmann and many others I find it very harmful to suggest objectively inferior privacy solutions because of personal feuds.
I get it that drama sucks. But let's keep our privacy recommendations based on merit rather our emotions and personal perceptions. GrapheneOS is objectively the most private and secure option out there. There really isn't any other operating system that comes close. Not CalyxOS, not LineageOS, not stock Android nor iOS. I have made a video on GrapheneOS security and I interviewed one of their developers. But if you want to hear it from a source I have 0 connections to, check out this comparision between GrapheneOS and CalyxOS. Whatever you think of Micay or anyone involved has zero value on the technical merit of GrapheneOS.

TL;DR

GrapheneOS is a world-class team of security experts and developers who working for the non-profit to develop the most secure operating system in the world. Despite personal and emotional issues with some individuals, it is by every merit the most trusted, private and secure system and it is the only one that should be recommended for privacy conscious users. No amount of drama can change this reality. Only merit can.

2023.05.29 17:43 Ceristimo Does anyone have experience with converting clip-ons to superbike style handlebars?

I own a ‘94 Honda CBR600 F2 (PC25) and while I love the bike to bits, the riding position isn’t great for long and slow rides. Once you get at or above 60mph everything is great, but prolonged riding at lower speeds gets uncomfortable after a while. I did some research and there are conversion kits available to convert the current clip-ons to ‘normal’ handlebars. Has anyone here done a conversion like that before? It seems like some cables need to be rerouted, the brake line needs to be extended (included in the kit) and modifications need to be done to the windscreen. I was gonna order a tinted replacement windscreen (15 bucks from China) to modify so I don’t have to cut up the original.
It doesn’t sound too bad but was wondering if there are any real cons to this before I pull the trigger and order the kit.

2023.05.29 17:42 Flaky-Meringue1294 Caravan purchase vs home-ownership.

So for context I took my little lad up to the Lakes for a camping trip staying at a Haven site. They’re advertising low cost homes in a relatively nice part of the world starting at (2nd hand) 19k requiring a 10% deposit and an APR of 9.9%. Cheap.
I also understand that site fees can reach somewhere in the 8.5k per annum area, circa 700pm but can be offset by renting out your van to holidayers. Expensive at first look.
I’m in the Armed Forces and I’m often away. I can’t justify the cost of a mortgage for a home I never see. This seems like a good compromise. Is there anyone in the know here that could tell me what the pitfalls are here and the things to look out for as it kind of seems like a good deal! Life has taught me if it looks good, it ain’t!
Cheers!

2023.05.29 17:41 eroverton Noisy cat is driving me nuts

Hi, I'm not sure what to do about this cat. He's a sweet boy that I've had about a year and a half - so he's about 2 years old now. Problem is, he will not let me move without beginning to meow incessantly. ESPECIALLY if I go anywhere near the kitchen.
He's a healthy boy, neutered, vaxd, playful, affectionate, obsessed with birds. But I work from home so I'm here most of the day in my "office" spot at the table. Anytime I stand up to go anywhere, he starts meowing and runs ahead of me to wherever he thinks I'm headed. Okay, fine.
But the kitchen. From the moment it's evident that I'm going into the kitchen he meows and meows and meows and yowls and carries on like mad. He has food. I have dry kibble which he likes available all day, and I feed wet in the evening. Before, he would only act like this when I was preparing his can food in the evening time, which was annoying enough but I likened it to an infant screaming for a bottle even though he can see that it's coming.
But now he will not let me be in the kitchen at all without the incessant meowing and yowling. He's perfectly fine the rest of the time. He's not hungry, he has food there. He gets treats sometimes. He has water. But now it's his habit to yell the whole time I'm in the kitchen no matter what I'm doing or how long I'm there, and it's frankly making me want to yeet him out of the house just to get some quiet and it's driving my family crazy too. Does anyone have any advice on how to get him to shut the hell up and let me live?

Currently, NWBO's Sawston plant is the only visible global hub for DC VAX L manufacturing and distribution (MHRA MIA approval 3/20/23) . For $400 , FED EX (https://www.fedex.com/en-us/custom-critical.html) ships anywhere globally within the required timeframes.A SAGE (https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/20363613231179541) 5/26/23 scientific publication demonstrates intent by Pakistani neurosurgeons to treat and cure their GBM patients. Looks like the DC VAX L JAMA paper and LIAU- Bosch presentations since 10/26/22 have created global awareness that DCVAX L will be is a major global cell based biotech therapy, addressing GBM , and all solid tumors( https://conferences.asco.org/am/industry-expert-theater).
With 50% of LIAU-SPORE-UCLA combo patents living 10 years, DC VAX L has turned SOC's GBM treatment from a terminal (16.5) months disease into a chronic treatable malignancy .

Post# 593185 of 593185 I am definitely not a biotech expert and what I've learned about Northwest and DCVax-l was shared with me by one of the legends in the biotech world !!! My biggest takeaway is this:
From 2018 forward, it became apparent that DCVax-L was a breakthrough, technological process for the treatment of nGBM and rGBM, but its true potential was only known by a "handful" of experts, and as such, the understanding of the broader market implications was a relative unknown. Early on, several of the comments that I heard from BP were," The GBM market is really not that big!" and " Personalized, Immunotherapy vaccines are not really in our 'Wheelhouse'. We sell compounds/pills!!" On and on! The comments didn't mean that BP wasn't paying attention! Quite the contrary, BP was watching like a hawk as results from Dr. Liau and the UCLA trials began to leak into the medical community suggesting a broader application of DCVax-L on a "stand alone" basis and in combination with CI's for all large tumor cancers ( mentioned in the latest 10Q for future trials), thus dramatically expanding market potentials!!! But the "Big Moment" occurred in late October of last year when the STADIUM LIGHTS turned on, shining bright lights on the latest nGBM/rGBM ,Dr. Liau trial data suggesting 50%to 65% OS for 8 years with emphasis on rGBM !!! That was the point in time when BP and the entire biotech world realized that GBM/rGBM would be treated and managed as a CHRONIC DISEASE!!! with unlimited PROMISE and HOPE for patients and unlimited marketing potential to finance existing vaccine production and the continuing development for improved treatments for all diseases!!!!!
So that's what I learned and that's my story and I'm stickin to it!!!!
Cheers especially to all the Mom's and to everyone !!!

The light switch just turned on for me !!! I'm not a doctor or scientist or a STEM concentration "rock star", but if I read something over and over again several times and look carefully at the pictures SOMETIMES, NOT ALL THE TIME, a major mental breakthrough occurs and I believe that I've discovered something very profound!!
In this case, I believe the main message from the slide deck is that DCVax-L, either by itself or in combination with CI's has turned the whole thing around for treating nGBM/rGBM from having to kill the tumor to a "management process" !! It looks like now with this new information, that GBM patients can receive vaccinations as needed with "Zero" side effects and live a long and happy life !!! A comment from a medical expert that DOES KNOW !!!:
Dr. Greg Zivic:
This treatment can turn a Glioblastoma into a chronic treatable disease even after recurrence of the tumor.
So help me out here. Does the above reasoning seem logical based on the slides all of us have just reviewed?? If it does or is, then little Team Northwest has just changed the healthcare landscape forever in the way that we treat disease!!!!!
Am I way off base or are all of onto to something that is fabulous beyond belief???

From my friends in the UK, my use of the word "determined" grossly understates the effort behind the "Grand Plan"!!
So far, the MHRA has not only accepted and approved the MIA application (manufacturing license), but voluntarily offered the expansion to a GLOBAL MANUFACTURING" license allowing for the import of live cells and the export of vaccines to the far corners of the earth!!! People!!! That is huge!!!!! BUT as always 99.99% of the retail investors don't understand the significance of that license or anything else about the process and look to the screen to validate the importance/value of the license, where they are greeted by Citadel and Virtu and the rest of the gang that manipulate the price to new lows, confirming that, in spite of everything they just read from the greatest medical minds in the universe, is a bunch of crap!!!!
Fortunately for the cancer patients and shareholders of Northwest, the MHRA does not include in their decision making process the current SP of NWBO or the opinion of the "gutter filth" that manage those companies or any other companies that participate in the ordered destruction of small biotechs that are engaged in the development of immunotherapy vaccines!! So, it's on to the filing of the MAA (marketing license), the approval and the decisions that will guarantee swift treatment deliveries to patients!!
So Griffin and Cifu and Fuerstein and the rest can lie all they want , but the GREAT UNITED KINGDOM will not be denied the ultimate crown of being the WORLD CENTER for CANCER TREATMENT !!!!!

I don't think everyone realizes how dynamic and important the manufacturing license really is so I'll take a shot at giving you my take on it. First of all, the marketing approval (MAA) and the government subsidy approval(NICE) are pretty much in the bag before the manufacturing team gets the "green light" to proceed. The MAA and NICE teams talk to the MIA team and say," This stuff looks really cool and we wanted to let you know before you run off and do a lot of work on something that we won't approve when you're finished!!" Okay! So that's the first part.
Now for the second part and this is the part that involves a lot of money so read very carefully!!! The MIA license allows for global export of the vaccines and global import of immune cells/tumor resected material. Anyone in the entire world that is diagnosed with GBM can NOW ship their tumor samples to Northwest/Advent/Sawston to have their personal vaccine made and stored, all to be shipped back to the patient/doctor on a prescribed injection schedule. The beauty of this process is that patients everywhere can NOW receive their vaccine on a compassionate care basis. No more waiting!! No more opportunities for the "dark forces" to delay or deny suffering cancer patients their desperately needed treatments !!!
People, as of yesterday, Northwest is now IN BUSINESS !!!! AND that opens the door for institutional investors and an uplist to the New York or Nasdaq exchanges!!!!
All of the above is as good as that first sip of ice cold buttermilk on a hot summer day!!!! AND for those unfortunate shorts and haters it adds a whole new description to the letters FTD and I'll let you guess what that might be!!!
Cheers,
BB

Abstract Objective: To define the landscape of treatment patterns and current epidemiological data regarding gliomas in Pakistan.
Methods: As part of the Pakistan Brain Tumour Epidemiology Study (PBTES), data were collected from 32 neurosurgical centres across the country. Our retrospective study looked at patients who underwent surgical procedures for gliomas in 2019 in neurosurgical centres. The data was collated and analysed using STATA version 15.
Results: A total of 781 patients with gliomas were identified 479(61.8%) in public sector hospitals, 302(39.1%) in the private sector). The most common histopathological subtypes were glioblastoma 262 (33.5%), followed by astrocytoma 147(18.8%) and oligodendroglioma 93(11.9%). Gender distribution was skewed towards men 508(65%). Private institution hospitals performed surgical biopsies as the first surgical procedure 75(23%) more often than public hospitals 38(9%). Chemotherapy was given to 115(29.8%) patients, and there was no data regarding 467(53%) of patients. Similarly, only 202(43.9%) patients received radiation therapy, and there was no data for 469(60%) of patients. For high-grade gliomas specifically, only 95(31.8%) patients with HGG have a record of receiving radiation therapy, and only 57(18.9%) had a record of being started on chemotherapy.

Contents Declaration of conflicting interests Funding ORCID iDs Footnotes References PDF / ePub More Dear Editor, Glioblastoma is a malignant neoplasm of the central nervous system that arises from glial cells, primarily astrocyctes and is characterized by poorly differentiated, fusiform, round or pleomorphic astrocyctic cells with marked nuclear atypical and brisk mitotic activity.1 Despite advances in early diagnosis and comprehensive treatments, there is nearly 100% recurrence rate and dismal patient survival.2 According to researchers, more than 13,000 Americans are diagnosed with Glioblastoma annually, causing significant morbidity and mortality. There has been no cure for Glioblastoma so far.3 Treatment options often include surgical removal of the tumor followed by concomitant radiation and adjuvant temozolomide TMZ chemotherapy which has been the standard of care for glioblastoma since decades, but exposure to high doses of ionizing radiation is a well-known exogenous risk factor for glioblastoma. The inability to cross the BBB is the major obstacle in achieving remission after surgical resection followed by chemotherapy and radiation.4 As a result, glioblastoma typically recurs within six to 8 months and the survival rate is generally less than 5%.2 Despite the development of novel, complex, multidisciplinary, and targeted therapies the outcome for patients remains almost universally lethal.5 Therefore, the need for effective treatment is undeniable. For this reason, it has been a priority area in cancer research. Recently, US biotech company Northwest Biotherapeutics has developed a brain cancer vaccine, called DCVax, which is designed to help patients' immune system to target their tumors that may prolong their life by months or, in some cases, years.5 Thus, opening a door for the development of innovative therapy for targeting glioblastoma. The vaccine is created for each patient individually by isolating dendritic cells, from their blood which is then primed with biomarkers from a sample of the patient’s tumor.6 Dendritic cells present tumor antigens to the immune system, prime T cells, and mobilize antitumor responses.6 To evaluate the safety of the vaccine and its impact on survival time in patients with Glioblastoma, a phase 3 randomized control trial was conducted.7 In this trial, 348 patients newly diagnosed with Glioblastoma were tested at King’s College Hospital and other centers around the world for 8 years.7 Patients had surgery to remove their tumors as much as possible, followed by radiation and chemotherapy as the standard treatment for Glioblastoma.7 Among these patients, two out of three were treated with the vaccine, DCVax-L, with the remaining one-third receiving a placebo.7 The astonishing result of the trial has shown that newly diagnosed patients who received the vaccine survived for 19.3 months compared to 16.5 months for those who received a placebo.8 Overall 13% of all trial participants treated with DCVax lived more than 5 years after diagnosis compared with 5.7% in the comparison group who did so.8 Moreover, this is the first time in 17 years that such a significant result has been achieved in a Phase 3 trial of a systemic treatment for newly diagnosed Glioblastoma, and it’s the first treatment in 27 years for patients with GBM recurrence.9 Thus, this development represents a major step forward in our efforts to combat this devastating disease. Based on the findings of the trials evaluating the drug’s efficacy, it has the potential to improve the quality of life for patients, especially for the elderly and those unable to have surgery. A global clinical trial has concluded that the DCVax is the world’s first vaccine to treat deadly cancerous brain tumors that could help patients to live for years.9 This breakthrough could benefit 2500 people a year in the UK being diagnosed with Glioblastoma.9 It has also been shown that this therapy can be used to treat cancers other than Glioblastoma.9 However, due to high recurrence rate and lethal outcomes, the treatment of gliblastoma has seen significant transformation, switching from an aggressive surgical strategy to a more cautious one. The endorsement of the vaccine is a commendable achievement, and it demonstrates the unwavering commitment of researchers and healthcare professionals to discovering effective treatments for such lethal disease. Furthermore, vaccine may enhance the quality of life of a patient and provides a new hope for patients and their families Thus, it is crucial that we continue to support research into Glioblastoma and the development of novel treatments so that we can envision a future where this disease is eradicated. 2023.05.29 17:39 sheplaysthesims My 3 m/o rescue kitten has been diagnosed with megacolon, should I consider surgery?

A month ago someone abandoned a kitten at my private foster care. He had a terrible wormload and I suspected he was the runt of the litter. Since I only started fostering kittens this year, I've never had such a major health issue before but I was desperate to save him. I consulted 4 doctors for his care and medication and found many of them useless, I've realized that most doctors only train for dogs and not for cats. He's playful and loving, a joy to have, really. He somehow survived the wormload and everything went to normal, eating, pooping, playing, everything is absolutely normal. EXCEPT for a concerning bloat on one side of his belly. I tried deworming with feline syrups to see if it goes away but there was no effect. Today I decided to take him to a hospital and I've been told he has megacolon and that its a lifelong condition and he's only gonna get temporary relief with medication - surgery would give him a fresh start. Since he's so young, I think he deserves to live his life at 100% but I have some doubts on whether or not the surgery would be safe and would be a success. He is 3 months old, I'm worried about how his body will fare with all the procedures and medications required. I really want him to live but I feel so hopeless, he's just here playing with my fingers, giving me little rabbit kicks. Can anyone give me some hope?

Need help with Belastingdienst situation.
Context: I am a non-EU person living in the Netherlands. Last year in 2022 I registered myself at the KvK as an independent entrepreneur to work by myself, but then I found a nice fulltime job, so I never really worked towards my enterprise. Every quarter I reported that I do not have any income. Since I felt comfortable in my current job, I figured it's time to deregister since I was not doing any business anyway, nor was I making any money.
In Feb, 2023, I deregisterd and dissolved my company from KVK, at that time I filled in all the details, debts, revenues etc as 0 since there was LITERALLY NOTHING that I did as the entrepreneur. I received letters saying I have been deregistered from KVK, the btw number has been disabled, my bank account was canceled automatically, I received several confirmation of dissolution of my company. Until May 4th, I regularly checked my dashboard for notifications, if there was something that was needed by me, I didn't see any new notification under to do lists, All seems good. Yesterday(28th May) I received a letter from KVK slamming me with a fine for €5500+ I don't understand this. I did report every quarter, I deregistered the entity, and now I get a fine for money that I did not even make? I am utterly confused and very afraid, as it's a huge amount for me, moreover, for something that I don't believe I am liable to be penalized for.
I have already raised an objection to the letter, my problem is I am also going on a trip outside the country, this week and I am afraid they will send me letters/contact me while I am abroad. I am wondering what are my options here and if anyone knows how things like these go, here in the Netherlands. What should I expect? Please help!

2023.05.29 17:38 avenn22 Concerns about my father's 70M, 5'8, 210lbs, White, biliary drainage bag & procedure

My father: 70M, 5'8, 210lbs, White
Boston, MA
Pmhx: Hypertension, cardiovascular disease
4 weeks post 2 stents, one in LAD, other in another part of his heart that I'm not sure about. Procedure #1 was for the LAD stent. It took longer than anticipated so they waited until next day to put him under anesthesia again for the 2nd stent. He was put on Plavix.
1 1/2 weeks ago presented to ER with severe abdominal pain. Dx of gallbladder stones. Drs didn't want to do surgery to remove gallbladder due to possibility of bleeding complications and b/c of his stents. After being weaned off Plavix for IV Cangrelor, they did biliary bag procedure on Tuesday 5/23.
This past week he has been in pain level 6. He says it shoots up to 9-10 when coughing or sneezing or moving too much. I noticed the biliary bag had blood in it. We were told some blood may be normal but days later there was still only blood and nothing that looked like bile to me. I told him to call his surgeon and he finally conceded last night. He presented back to ER per request of surgeon for CT scan and has been admitted.
This information is secondhand from my mother, but apparently the CT scan showed that the tube was "not in the correct spot". The doctors apparently were not overly concerned with the blood in the bag.

I have a few questions:
  1. Are there any questions anyone can suggest I make sure to ask the doctoInurses? We are having a hard time getting straight answers and we are obviously worried.
  2. Do you think there's any possibility IR put the tube in incorrectly? Apologies if this is not the correct terminology here. I'd usually do more research but I am exhausted mentally and emotionally from this whole ordeal on top of my own full time job. I'm sure they didn't do anything that would suggest malpractice, I'm more interested in how common something like this occurs?
  3. We are being told that surgery may now be the next step. We were initially told they would do the bag for a while and then an internal stent and then surgery when he is strong enough. If they do surgery now, are there alot of complications to be worried about?

Any insight, comments, links to medical journals are welcome. I really appreciate the assistance and am very thankful for all the doctors, nurses, PAs, etc out there! Thank you.

I am going to include photos of his bag shortly.

Edit 1: Added photos. https://imgur.com/a/qZUIXfb Also wanted to note that he does not currently have a fever. Last BP read at 136/67.
